New years eve on the Thames

Just a random question - how close are you allowed to get to the millennium wheel new years eve and if there is any groups of you out there that make the trip could we tag along?

Interesting idea.

The only problem is that boating on the TT (Tidal Thames) doesn't sit well with alcohol.

Lol I know what you mean but if you had enough of you at two a Breast and a few behind like wise and moored up to something solid I think it would make a very entertaining night but I can't seem to find any info about it maybe I need to call the river authority and see what they say

What are you going to moor to? It's not really practical to moor up on the tidal Thames, especially in the pool of London unless you've booked a berth at St Katherine's, etc. There are probably places you could turn up and moor further upstream but I'm not even sure if you're allowed to moor in central London? Anyway, even if you did find somewhere to moor the tide can be strong, so for safety you'd have to arrive at slack water which would give everyone about a 20 or 30 minute window to moor up, otherwise it could all end in disaster. Think of the tidal Thames as a motorway - you only stop on the hard shoulder in an emergency.

It is probable that the river will be closed to navigation between cetain points as will be the case on the 12th of Nov for the Lord Mayors show fireworks
