George Seward
Hi all, For various reasons I've decided to convert my 10yr old narrowboat over to Propane and have decided that it would be good practice to remove the old fittings (not BSF sizes), pipes and tubes etc. Can anyone recommend a gas safe engineer with boat knowledge and marine LPG quals in and around Lichfield, Tamworth areas to assist and certify it off afterwards? thanks

ChrisPy
it might be wise to check if he has any knowledge of BSS Part 7 and the relevant RCD compliant ISO standards.
MtB
Hi all, For various reasons I've decided to convert my 10yr old narrowboat over to Propane and have decided that it would be good practice to remove the old fittings (not BSF sizes), pipes and tubes etc. Can anyone recommend a gas safe engineer with boat knowledge and marine LPG quals in and around Lichfield, Tamworth areas to assist and certify it off afterwards? thanks Change to propane from what? Butane? If so, the fittings are identical. No need to change ANYTHING except the regulator (and to check all your appliances are designed to run on either butane OR propane - which most are). On the other hand if your narrowboat is currently running on natural gas, all bets are off. Mike
George Seward
Thanks mike, Changing from blue bottle butane. When I installed the gas pipes, I used 8 or 10mm rather than the standard 3/8 fittings. Although it has passed the BSS on two occasions, I still feel uneasy about it, so have decided to start again. I then took the decision to let an expert do it, so I can be confident in not failing the BSS, more importantly, not to have any problems free here on. the cooker runs on both. Didn't even think you could use Natural Gas. the only natural gas on our boat comes from a heavy night out, or from the wife!
wrigglefingers
You could give Andy Downing a bell - he's a genius with gas and electricity and is often at Norton Canes - 07968 508872 - he did Cobbett's gas and electricity and is a thoroughly nice bloke as well. PaulD
Try Iain at Shobnall. They gave me a BS 5482 / BSS letter of conformity. Paul
