Theo
Been messing about at the bottom end of the Soar a bit aver the last week. The question in our mnds is how did a horse drawn boat get from the Soar to the Erewash? What route did the horse take and how do you get across the Trent with no power? stagedamager
there was an article in a recent HNBOC news letter on this. Basically the horse got up a massive gallop and torpedoed it out into the trent and then it was poled across once it slowed. the horse went over on a ferry boat. i'll try and dig the article out if i can find it!!! the grinch
as said there was a ferry boat that took the horse over, the boats were poled across, but I have often wondered what happened when the ferry was the wrong side? perhaps it had its own boatman?
