Cratch Covers

Hi all. I was just wondering if you could tell me how much we should expect to pay for a cratch cover for a 57 ft boat and a cover for the rear of a semi- trad? I know there are different qualities available but ideally it would be of reasonable quality and pref zip sides. Many thanks in advance.

It's a how long is a piece of string thing. After shopping around I've been quoted around 500 for the front cover, which I think is reasonable. I'm still waiting to find out pricing on the board and plank.

Yes sorry,With cratch board. I forgot about that :-/. That seems a good price. We have been quoted £1400 by the builder?! I thought it seemed a little on the dear side.

Sounds quite reasonable to me. What wood are you having it made from. If it is hardwood and glazed then the price seems about right.

 

I would think a cover for the semi trad would be a about £200/250. I have a semi trad but I dont have a cover for the back. I have not seen a solution that does not collect water or have some kind of upright pole. Can I ask what the reasons are for the cover at the back? A friend described their back cover like having to crawl out of it like a rat.

A lot depends on what you want. If you can get away with a simple design with bungees to close it and no zips you could always make your own. The Fabric (automotive grade hooding), eyelets, lift off studs & buttons, & bungee cord cost me under £70. The timber for the cratch cost under £30. Not as fancy as some designs, but it does the job, looks good and saved me a packet.

Can I ask what the reasons are for the cover at the back?

 

Yes certainly, the idea is to use it as a "wet room" for our dogs. I think a pram hood would be more practical but HWMBO doesn't like them

Semi-Trad back cover about £300.

 

Mine has a sprung plastic rod that goes widthways across the boat. It bows upwards and does an excellent job of keeping the water off the cover.
