Hello everyone, the OP is back. Will I need to buy a generator for our new widebeam? if we have 3 leisure batteries

All depends on what other methods of charging your batts you have

You need to do a power audit to work out what your daily power requirement will be. Once you have that figure you can work out how large your battery bank will need to be. Then you can decide how much of that will come from each potential charging power source, be it propulsion engine, solar panel,wind generator, petrol or diesel generator or land line.

After you have done all of the above one of the other things you need to do is work out how much diesel you could buy with the money you might spend on a generator

We bought ours mostly as a back up for battery charging should our engine break down. We don't use it very often.
