  4. Look at them all and find one that suits your needs. Its the flat back and mounting points that are important

  6. Its up to you to crunch the numbers but I would go for a larger genny, up to 30kva, purpose made in a sound proof container, one thats designed for many thousands of hours use. Register it and install so you can couple up to the grid and export power and get paid for it. In return, you get the power you want, the Feed in Tariff (FIT) covers your costs, you have heat back from it as well. Sounds expensive?, NO google and learn. Meanwhile, forget PV and windy gens. You need exceptional location and investment to cover your needs
  7. My folks were on the bandwagon in the early 80s to breed and farm crawfish. The dangers of escaped and feral foreigners wasnt understood and thousands were released into ponds and reservoirs. It was all part of farm diversification, encouraged by MAFF, the predecessor of DEFRA Females with eggs have to be kept in cages which allow the young to escape once hatched so mum doesnt eat them. Adults can give you a very nasty nip and are agressive.
  8. Get round the scrap yards and pick one up for £3 like I did. it sure beats £40

  17. Ive converted a 1.9 XUD Pug engine and put it in my boat. Designed and fabricated the engine mountings and gearbox mounting myself. Also added a second alternator. Its a fantastic engine, ive had 3 cars with this type engine, it has a heated fuel filter to pre heat all fuel types

  20. What IS a no no is using the hull as the only neg return to the battery. In the case of the AC wiring, of course you must connect the earth to the shore power, including the hull
  21. Sprayfoam is going to be more expensive but if your goal is trouble free, warm living aboard then its a must. If you can afford two stoves then go for it because belt and braces are best as illustrated by the current weather circumstances
  22. Just throw it over a hedge.

  25. If you have regrets based on a few weeks challenging weather then maybe there is a greater underlying issue But, its better to regret something you have done, than to regret not having done it
