Probably a silly question

To save me going mad, can somebody confirm that my roof collar is fitted the correct way up when the tapered end sits facing up - to receive the chimney. What would be the point of having a tapered piece in the ceiling void?? The more I read this the more I know the answer.

Its usually obvious which way up they go as the underside of the casting is normally hollowed out! Older ones may be m ore solid.

However, when I resealed mine some years ago, I found it had been fitted wrong way round, so the chimney leaned outwards when fitted! Could explain why I had a lot of chimney damage for the first few years!

I have seen flat ones, so there are at least two types, flat and canted?

Thanks. When I checked I found the bolts would only go in one way. Similar to Casper, I have tapers both ends. I am really pleased though, it is looking pretty straight.

I hace sealed it using my very high temprature silicon. Hopefully it will keep the water out!!
