bob
Brought boat with Twin Solenoids not connected to the engine. Replaced the solenoids but need to know how to rewire them. Any ideas?

Richard Bustens
What kind of solenoide? presumably you mean starter solenoide and you only need one. posably the second one is faulty and someone replaced it but did not take it out. Keeping Up
What kind of solenoide? presumably you mean starter solenoide and you only need one. posably the second one is faulty and someone replaced it but did not take it out. Many engines have more than one solenoid. Mine, for example, has a "stop" solenoid that operates to turn off the fuel (interesting consequence, because it's powered from the ignition switch, if you turn off the ignition you can't stop the engine) - some have the opposite, ie one that operates to turn on the fuel - so if one of them is on the fuel line, it's essential to know which way round it works otherwise you'll never get the engine started (fuel cuts off when you try to start the engine then switches on again when you give up and go home). I'm sure there are other possible reasons for the existence of more solenoids - maybe we should give a prize in the virtual pub for the person who thinks up the most inventive one.
