Hello to everyone,what a super forum this is.

My question is,i have a lister mounted on solid oak bearers,do i need to treat the bearers with anything,or is it best to leave them as they are.

In my boat, they get self-treated with the occasional fuel or oil leak - seems to do the job!

I doubt they will need treating at all. If you did want to clean them and feed the wood you could rub in an antique furniture oil or indeed just some linseed oil with a small amount of spirit in it. It will rub in well and the surface will become polished to a silky sheen over time. But it is really aesthetics rather than the wood needing it.
