This thread is going on and on like status quo, but not half so irritating.

I do find that some of the posts are giving me food for thought and inviting me to re-assess my position. I have always been a liberal, that is I believe that an individual should be free to do as they please so long as it does not adversely affect another individual or the wider community. In this spirit, and given that the taxpayer already provides sites for travellers to trash, I feel that it may be appropriate if parts of the network were set aside for those who are unwilling to have their freedom restrained by licence requirements.

There would need to be a number of places in different parts of the country. For the south of England might I suggest the canal cut of the Wey and Arun between the two rivers. There would still be the option of visiting other parts of the system on a visitors licence, but once there one could be assured of the liberty to adopt any piece of towpath without charge.
