Just watching our local news (BBC Midlands Today) and there was a story about the Museum at Gloucester Docks.

Poor attendance figures mean it will close in September...... unless visitor numbers increase.

Have any Forum members visited recently?

From the little clip that was shown on tv, it looks like a really good day out, with lot's of working models.

Visited just after the 'revamp'.

Used to be exhibitions over three floors, now over two.

Same old, very tired displays and much now not on display.

Will not be going again.

We went to the Ellesmere Port Boat Museum yesterday, and will go again - they have the right mix of interesting items for newbies and knowledgeable visitors in our opinion. Fi blogged about it yesterday and is currently writing today's blog, which includes a picture of horse-drawn fly boat Saturn, and several other working boats. More to be seen tomorrow, as they travel from Chester to the Museum for the Easter Boat Gathering.

If you haven't other plans, well worth a visit.

i would have thought that the main reason for the low number of visitors was down to the entry fee,

when so meny museums are fee. yes i have been there but quite some time ago
