MartinC
An apology to the Site Crew for yet another thread about this bridge but a felt that this would be a bit off topic on the other threads. In these days of BW being a little short of cash for things like keeping the canals open it would be nice to hear from them that they are at least investigating recovering the substantial costs of repair to the bridge from the insurers of the tractor. I would hope they are but I'm not sure we need a press release about it. It should be policy to investigate the cause of the accident and the guilty party pay for the damage. If the cause of the accident turns out to be a bridge maintenance issue, though, I would expect BW's insurers to compensate the farmer, adequately, also. Let's just hope, if this is the case, that BW don't underwrite themselves, like many Councils used to (and got caught out badly).
