magpie patrick Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 Well, we woke up yesterday morning, I'd spent two days getting stuff done on the house (and made good progress) but we felt a bit jaded. Plans were more stuff on the house. I was so immersed I didn't even think of going to the football. And the Val said "If you want to go on Ripple..." so it was hasty packing for a night away, drive up to the marina, a quick lunch with a glass of wine (there's always at leats one bottle on board) and then we set off towards Sharpness, not sure of our destination but thinking the Tudor Arms at Shephers patch might do. We moored about half past three, walked down to Slimbridge WWT (where we then signed up as members) and had a good meal in the Tudor Arms. Glass of single malt back on board and all was well. And this morning we had another two hours at the WWT and then came back to Saul, meeting two naval vessels on the way. A grand trip, and totally unplanned. The world does seem a better place tonight...
Lady Muck Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 <jealous> I would love to take the boat out, infact we were planning to take the boat up to Cassiobury Park, it must be nice up there right now with all the leaves turning. But life has got in the way and even a shortish trip is out of the question as Waltham Town Lock (in the other direction) is about to close for a stoppage. Lucky you.
