Suggestions - Next 1 Week Hire

Hi All,

After a frantic hire week (Wrenbury to Llangollen and back) we wish a more relaxed (hire) break early next year (April/May).

We would like to cruise no more than about 5-8 miles per day for a week.

Any suggestions?

We like scenic, quieter waterways and don't need a circular route (just as well!).

Thinking of the South Oxford (don't know where exactlyand would welcome suggestions for a length close to a decent hire yard) or will consider other canal waterways anywhere.

TIA

Mark

Why not go from Wrenbury t'uther way and head for Chester. Much less stressful and some outstanding views - Beeston Castle for example. You could do the trip easily in a week and there are some great waterside watering holes - Cotton Arms (Wrenbury), Jolly Tar (Barbridge Junction), Shadey Oak (Beeston)....and great shopping in Chester of course!

A vote for the Ashby here, too. Lovely stretch. (Unless it's windy - that can be fun!)

There's the Macclesfield; a good day locking up, stunning views as you go across the top for a few days (and include the Upper Peak Forrest, too, if you can), and then a good day locking down again. (And you may even get forum members DaveAndDebby volunteering for a day of locking!)

Or, as suggested, start from Wrenbury, but then head south to Nantwich and Market Drayton and beyond.

DaveandDebby will always volunteer for a day of locking, especially if it involves Bosley - and work doesn't interfere.

Yes, another vote for the Macclesfield. Beautiful scenery, and a few good pubs.
