oldade
Hi How do we make our chimney holes secure when we are away ? To stop any vandels etc pouring or tiping anything down. Do we have to resort to something like a hasp and staple with a padlock through or is theyer a neater way? As ever your views would be welcome. Thanks ADE
BlueStringPudding
Most of the boats near us use what looks like an empty giant baked bean tin. Sometimes, but not always painted to match the boat roof.
Machpoint005
Most of the boats near us use what looks like an empty giant baked bean tin. Sometimes, but not always painted to match the boat roof. Beat me to it. Catering-size coffee tins work, as do some paint cans, but 2.5li paint cans are generally plastic these days. You need to get a good tight fit, necessitating judicious bashing to get it off again. Or you could put a screw through the spigot, but lining it up the second and subsequent time could be a bit clever. gaggle
buy a non stick pan that is just a snug fiton the chimney hole and warn all females on the boat to use only wooden /plastic utensels to stir /mash food up in said pan , they will of course do exactly the opposite and destroy the non stick coating and leave you with just the right size pan for your chimney hole , when you remove pan handle a nice fitting is there for you to attach it with chain or wire. all you have to do then is throw female crew in canal.
