CWF spamming me

Why is CWF spamming me? 

 

Out of the blue I had a random email from no-reply@canalworld.net (presumably automatically generated) last night, telling me there had been some responses to an old thread of mine. Why would this hve been sent? 

 

Worse, clicking (stupidly probably, but I thought the email genuinely from CWF) on the link to the thread in the email gave me a warning that "this connection is not safe" and my browser refused to connect.

This is normal behaviour, I found this topic through the same type of email... Not seeing any certificate warnings though.
