  3. RichM's post in I feel I have achieved something today was marked as the answer
I think this relates to the new update as the forum started calculating "achievement points" since that update and has only just finished at which point these badges appear.

We will need to review this further. I will speak to Dan and the team later today and more info will be available soon.

  6. RichM's post in Content not available was marked as the answer
I believe it is now fixed, 4 hours later!

Basically an automated backend task got stuck and as such none of the posts were being indexed for the site search. The site search is also what powers VNC.

When I tried to manually force the task to run, it would error out with a rather unhelpful error message, but after much troubleshooting I narrowed it down to a software compatibility issue, which should now be fixed - though it will take another hour or two for the re-indexing of the content to complete.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused by this today.
  7. RichM's post in 'View New Content' preceded by huge list was marked as the answer
I have fixed this again. It is actually supposed to be there by design but agree it's unnecessary clutter. Some updates will unfortunately cause it to re-appear until I strip out the culprit line of code. "<span data-role='streamBlurb'>{$stream->blurb()}</span>"

If it still appears for anyone, please reset your browser cache.

Thanks for flagging it though. For future ref - feel free to tag me in a post and I will become aware of issues like this sooner.

    Cheers

  8. RichM's post in Editing was marked as the answer
Last time I checked the time period was set to 1 hour. If you need something edited for genuine reasons you may submit post report stating why and advise what you would like the post to be amended to and the mods will review.
    Cheers

There's already a topic about this
Edit: I have just checked your notification settings and you have a lot enabled. You may wish to review these.

  10. RichM's post in Why ? - How ? was marked as the answer
There was a problem whereby "Notify me of replies" wasn't enabling automatically when set to do so. To fix this, I had to reset the notifications functionality late last night which is the likely cause of your issue. You shouldn't have to do it again though.

I have checked and cannot see anything wrong with your notification settings. As such, please can you raise a support case by forwarding one of the examples to support@canalworld.net.

  12. RichM's post in Post count was marked as the answer
Thanks for the feedback. After giving it some thought, it would require a CSS/design change to be made to both themes. Plus, given it would be a custom change, it would need to be re-done every time a theme update is applied, so potentially three or more times a year. Bearing in mind my background involves working as a hosting engineer rather than a web designer, it's not my area of expertise. Also, when considering that post counts are clearly visible on profiles on mobile devices (screenshot below) I personally don't feel the amount of work required to maintain such a small change is justified on my part. I will feedback to Invision but I doubt they will implement it. Sorry.

  13. RichM's post in Linking images was marked as the answer
That URL is not a valid URL for an image and links to a page, no idea how it could have worked even briefly in all honesty.
As for the status error, not sure. I can only guess it relates to http status codes. In any case I'd ignore that as whoever wrote that error obviously did not write it with the end user in mind.

I recommend dragging & dropping the image you wish to post, e.g.:

  14. RichM's post in 'Quote This' was marked as the answer
Not sure exactly how long it has been around but as Daniel says, it's likely to be a 4.0 feature in which case probably since early this year. - It's useful if you only want to quote part of a post rather than the post in its entirety.
  15. RichM's post in Big white spaces after images was marked as the answer
Ok so I've now implemented the fix for this issue. The flaw was actually with IE rather than the forum software but by limiting the maximum size of thumbnails displayed, it prevents the excess white space. The tradeoff is that it means that attachment thumbnails are now limited to 500px across all browsers, though some may argue this is more than sufficient.
I have also been advised that the forum software is not optimised for IE. That is not to say it won't work nor is it to say it will stop working. For those who wish to use a Microsoft browser on Windows 10 machines, I recommend using Microsoft Edge rather than IE. It will probably supersede IE in time to come anyway.
More about it can be found on the page below.

  16. RichM's post in How to delete the wrong photo from my post? was marked as the answer
Probably a permissions issue. Will have a look.
    As for XP, tut tut...

Edit: Nope, permissions are set fine. You can also delete them from the page shown below.

Does the same problem happen when selecting the legacy theme at the very bottom of the page?
