  1. I was recently on the Shropie and called in at Tattenhall Marina for some diesel and did not realise it was their open day. The views were absolutely outstanding. While I was there I also visited the Ice Cream Farm which is next t to the marina and they have over 150 different flavours of Ice Cream. I could have spent the whole day in there. I also visited a number of the other marinas in the area that were also very nice. I think that marinas are very useful for boaters because most of them have washing/drying facilities etc that you would not normally find on the cut. I normally spend a day at a marina to restock on food and get any washing done, boat repairs. I Must admit I am not that enthusiastic on the washing bit. Here is a link for Tattenhall Marina worth a visit if you are passing. Tattenhall Marina
  2. Thanks for the link, looks like a great auction site. Shame I am out of cash. I can always dream. Ray
  3. You could get a cover fitted over the doors with press studs to secure it. I think you will find that most doors will let in some draft and I feel that a cover is a good option. You can also get them fitted over side hatch doors etc to keep the draft and cold out. Hope this helps. Ray
  4. It may be worth giving ebay a try? Good luck. Ray
  5. I only had the bottle to put one foot on the canal at Broad Street in Birmingham yesterday.
  6. Dominic, it appears that you mainly sell boats that are moored on their own moorings and potentially boats moored in marinas, so I am not surprised that you are in favour of this issue because you would directly benefit from it and not have all the running costs that a broker or marina operator would incur. ie. Rent, rates, wages, phone bills, mooring fees, heating bills, staff sick pay, staff holiday pay. Insurance, etc. So you feel that you can just turn up at a marina take your pics, then sell the boat and expect the marina or broker to pay all the running costs. Nice work if you can get it.....
  7. Jim, that is great news that you have sold your boat. Did you sell it privately?
  8. I agree with you totally and I am led to believe by another moorer, that Jim Shead took Great Haywood Marina to court between Christmas and New year 2009 regarding his issue and he LOST the case. The T&Cs were not deemed to be unfair by the court. We only appear to be hearing one side of the story. It looks a bit like sour grapes or a poor loser to me.........
  9. Would it not be possible to have all the funds paid into a protected account and the builder could only use these funds for the build of that particular boat (customer). You could also have a contract drawn up saying that if the builder went bust then the boat and monies would be passed to the customer. Not sure if this is possible or if it would work?
  10. Perhaps that the broker did not put sold etc because they could lose potential interest if buyers do not contact them and the sale was to fall through. I am sure that they would not sell the boat twice. I must admit that if I paid a deposit and I decided to pull out before a survey had been done I would not expect my money back. The whole point of a deposit is to give commitment to purchase the boat or any item Regardless of what it is. But I do feel that if a survey is done and you are not happy with the report then you should get your deposit back. I recently took a deposit on my motorbike and the buyer decided after a week that he did not want it and come up with some sob story. I could of sold the bike a dozen times but did not because the buyer had given me a deposit to purchase the bike. I did not give him his deposit back. I also wish that I had taken the telephone numbers of the people that had made enquiries because I then had to re advertise the bike and go through the whole process of showing people the bike etc. Sorry if I have side tracked and gone on about my bike but I think it is a similar situation regarding a deposit. I am sure that you will collect your boat and all will be fine.
  11. I think you will find that the insurance companies vary regarding how hold a boat is before they require it to have a hull survey. It may be worth trying a few other companies.
  12. Please forgive my ignoranse because I am no expert, but how did the surveyor know if the work had been carried out or not since the last survey unless he had the boat out of the water and carried out another survey. I am also not sure if the surveyor should of disclosed information about a survey that someone else had previously paid for because I believe that they would of owned the survey report and the information because they instructed and origionally paid the surveyor? Not sure if this helps?
  13. May I ask what are you looking to achieve from the answer to the question? There could be many factors that could effect the amount of boats for sale at any one time. If boats have been sold via AD I am sure that this must be a credit to them becasue boats are selling via the site. If you place an add I beleive that it is for a period of 6 months. The person that advertises the boat is reponsible for removing it or changing the details to sold, not AD. Thanks Dean
