  1. Great example of how people's perceptions can kill a place if allowed be believed. Spent 10 days in Liverpool last month via link and never had any concerns whatsoever. Enjoy it it's brilliant. Don't miss the Cavern club and the Anglican cathedral!
  2. Agree with you about Burnwell- produces the least ash I've seen from any coal and excellent value for money
  3. Or to make the coffee when you're on the tidal Trent with 2 hours to go and you've emptied your flask! (I know -get a bigger flask then!)

  5. There is a panel above the bow thruster motor but seems to be a bulk head in front of the water tank. May be access behind front step, I could remove the wood panel if I need to (and hopefully I won't!"). Cheers.
  6. You soon find a routine for single-handing and will enjoy the challenge. I've just completed a "round uk" 6 month single-handed tour: Lancaster- Llangollen- London- Oxford- Nottingham-Keadby- Leeds- Liverpool- Lancaster and loved every minute. Everything is do-able one way or another. There's an excellent book called "going it alone" by Colin Edmondson available from IWA shop -£4. Good luck.

  8. One of the benefits I find with the metal inserts is that as they are sloping they act as a kind of "funnel" to guide the ash into the riddling grate - so no ledges for unburnt coal and ash to sit on.
  9. Filled up from Dusty this summer when I was down on the Oxford. He's certainly a character and deserves all the support he gets.

  18. Midland Chandlers do them. They are made for Morso but can see no reason why they wouldn't do same job in other stoves if dimensions right.: think any gaps would create problems with getting coal/ ash stuck.
