Is the advice against sand just that it makes roof too heavy - so fine for gunwales?
You have to do both gunwales on the same day, or risk the boat rolling over and over.

Our marina has issued us a new style receipt this year which shows the marina details, boat details and the number of nights paid for which is 364 so we can provide evidence to CRT when renewing our licence.
Do you all have to ship out on one night then??

So they do degrade? Another member was suggesting they didn't. Yes I'll just order one.
Yes, they do degrade, moreso if not used for long periods as the same sections are stretched round the pulleys, if damp, those same sections may also adhere to the pulleys....leaving some rubber once rotated again.

I used to hanker after this, then realised I already had 2 Houdini hatches so just turn the boat upside down when needing my murky bottom view fix.

At last, a boat down at prices that will not break the bank at a local broker.

Vote for a party that will reverse the corrupt idiocy that is Brexit, and hope the EU will actually have us back.

That was brave with the rainfall and Nene being like it has ...
The Great Ouse came out of strong stream on Wednesday morning and was back on by early Friday

Oh dear...
Dont use sand.
nothing wrong with using sand so long as it is dried in an oven and paint stirred regularly whilst using it.
Buy a pack of non slip granules and follow the directions.
international do a nice fine granule pack.Again, mix thoroughly (power drill and paddle recommended, and stir whilst using.
I put first topcoat on then final topcoat on before it has fully cured, (read directions) and the granules are mixed with the second coat, stir frequently.
I would do 2 topcoats and and a final no slip coat....the roof takes all the weather abuse.
I use 4 " rollers plus a 2 inch brush.
If you have to leave first topcoat too long you need to sand it before the second coat.
you only need to key the top coat, sanding removes too much paint.
I do my gunwales this way, its not an expensive additive.
There is somethibg called raddle red traditionally used on boat roofs.
nothing traditional about it, Phil Speight invented it to fit in with the Craftsmaster range as a non-porous matt finish topcoat alternative to Red Oxide.

I ain’t seen the latest figure for unlicensed boats but I think at one point CRT claimed they had it down to 3%?They did get it just under 5, target was 3%

Thank you for confirming the boat in question is moored appropriately.
The boat is moored appropriately, however, he is moored opposite other boats who are moored on Waterside Moorings(CRT moorings) and has already complained several times on here about mooring with boats moored officially on the offside.....

Ow many boats?? Looks like a good turnout.
Make the most of the weather, it goes downhill from end of tommorow.....another 10 days of rain.

This picture appears to show ample room for another boat to get water assuming the bollard is the water point. Nothing apparently wrong with that.
Nothing other than the boat has been hanging around the same 1/2 mile stretch for 4 months on a CC licence (other than when he returned to Whilton for coating repairs)

One boat going through isnt the problem, 2 boats meeting, especially if one of those happens to be widebeam will.cause a problem or collision.
I know you have a widebeam Mike, but there is a new breed of owners who really dont care about anyone else on the canal except themselves.

Widebeams everywhere in MK, moored in all sorts of inconvenient places, as near to bridge holes as possible,
on bends or opposite overhanging trees.
This one, passing Balhalla on the far side of Campbell Park Marina...
Then proceeded to moor up actually sticking out over the other side of the entrance...

I'd have thought it would be perfectly possible to cruise around the canal system while having a permanent address on the bank, and not living on the boat. Cruise for a few days, moor up for a week or so and return to home address, return to the boat and carry on with the journey. Even just boating at week ends while on a progressive journey would comply with both the letter and spirit of the legislation, in my opinion.
There are plenty of people who do this.

There would be plenty of empty visitor moorings available then!
First time past Cosgrove since about 2017, unbelievable increase in CCers, through Wolverton to the aqueduct is a constant line of moored boats.

Both boats we have had in over the winter for sub floor replacement have had vinyl over the top, in both cases, water problems underneath remained hidden, and once rectified, the sub floor ply and battens couldnt dry out as sealed in by said vinyl.
If you are going to put insulation in, make sure it is breathable.

Its a shame, a tidy looking boat and someone will be very unhappy - but - a good reminder for others that they should learn how to moor properly, consider the weather forecast and investigate if there is history of flooding where they plan to moor.
You can see how he has tied, down with short tight ropes to the piling...which is well underwater.
There was zero chance of doing tickover past boats today, with strong flow and cross wind.
