  3. That is a kind offer, we will be around there by the end of Monday evening and need to leave the boat for a day until we return on Wed night / Thurs morning perhaps we could use it if it is free? We just have to return home for one days work on Wednesday before we continue on down to Beale Park.

  5. I don't know if anyone went to the Blissworth Festival? It was the first year it took place and was a great succes,a cross between an open village and a boat festival. The sun shone and people came. Watch out for it next year it is worth a day out with the family.
  6. Is there not another one just west of Braunston? What is happening there?

  8. Thanks all. Those are all very good points for me to consider.
  9. No. And do not really plan to - I will buy a house somewhere but the location has to be convenient for the boat too. I will check out the G&S. To be honest I had not thought of that.
  10. I am pondering moving down to the west country to live so have to take the boat into consideration. The K&A looks wonderful though I have not cruised it yet. However, is it a dead end as far as travelling is concerned. If I only have breaks on the boat will I spend my time just travelling to Reading and back?

  12. I have just had a look at Bath Marina and wondered if anyone on this forum has or is moored there. I understand they do have some residential moorings which come up occasionally, but they do have a leisure mooring vacancy at the moment which might suit Lily. I know I could phone and speak to them, but it is just curiosity at this time. Thanks.

  14. Can anyone tell me of any farmland type of moorings on the GU, Hertfordshire area please. The are not needed at the moment but any contacts would be good to make some enquiries. Thanks.
  15. Wow. You lucky lucky thing. Thanks for the wonderful picture too, nice to see the old flowers, a nice change from just roses and daisies, I am going to have a go at the sunflowers.
  16. I am not always the most confident boater, and though the weather is fine at the moment it is also a bit breezy. How windy does it have to be before the boat will be unmanagable? It is a shame to waste the days. I may or may not be single handed and would like to take some frinds out for the day, she is not a very big boat, 35ft. Thanks.
  17. My goodness Dave - that was a big chunk added. Did you have to get a bigger engin? My boat is 34 ft and have a vetus 3.10 engin. It was raised earlier about engin size and that had not occured to me. W'Lily

  19. Has anyone had any experience of having their boats stretched? Is it worth doing and what are the risks? I might be needing a bigger boat in a year or so but am attached to mine - not literally - but she is too small for my long term plans. Would be great to hear form anyone who has had this done. Ta.

  21. To be honest the canals don't really need these rich retired types who think they are better than the rest...what do you all think on this forum ?? We met a couple like this yesterday, sour woman steering in a superiour way, we waited in a lock for them and then she crashed thunderously in to the lock gates - I did have a snigger, and what's more my son was videoing it too, so we can keep sniggering. It just makes me determined not to end up like that too.

  23. There is a big add in Canal Boat this month (May) p 78. Looks interesting and might be worth a call.
  24. The main thing I keep hearing all the time from folk on the canal is ' we want to see the whole system, but don't have time'. Well does anyone ever do a boat swap. For example, I would love to visit the Mon and Brec, but a. cannot get to it and b. don't fancy paying to hire a boat when I pay to own one elsewhere? So someone down south could swap with someone up north. Is this ever done?
