  1. Open prison at Leyland is nearer. What about the people 'serving' community service orders?
  2. I'd be interested to know how to access the Bridgewater closure info. I use this web page http://www.bridgewatercanal.co.uk/operating.php but can't see the stoppage referred to.
  3. You don't say why you are on Warfarin, this medication is used for a variety of conditions. The best people/person to ask is your GP, Anticoagulant Nurse and/or Consultant They know your case and history, everyone's case/condition and how they respond to medication (the theraputic window) is unique to the individual. What works for me may not be ideal or even safe for you. You could try British Heart Foundation or http://www.atrialfibrillation.org.uk/ to arm yourself with appropriate questions before seeing your GP/Nurse. Don't mess with your meds.
  4. They will have in a few weeks. They tend to sell out quickly seemingly good value
  5. Got mine from these, a good selection. I would use a stabaliser though - Amperor 30 odd quid. http://www.kogan.com/uk/shop/televisions/?feature=9-12-volt-power
  6. Give a good clean with a nail brush using WD40 or soap and water if nylon/plastic. When dry lubricate with silicone. Anything with grease will attract dirt. If the zips are not cleaned any lubricant on dirt will add to the wear on the zips.
  7. Thanks for this I'll look out on ebay Thanks for digging this one out

  9. Thanks Julynian and Pete, Is it reasonable to assume all these digital meters can read both ways (using the alternative power source)? I already have a Smartgauge but thought an ammeter would indicate roughly how the alternator (90amp) is performing, but I suppose in and out measurement is no bad thing. Thinking about it with a 90 amp alternator never (?) producing full output do I need a 100 amp ammeter. I also have a 1600w inverter/70 amp mains charger if that is significant. I note the comments re a clampmeter for more accurate measurement Thanks for your time on this
  10. Thinking of fitting a cheapo digital ammeter. Read on this forum some of these units can be powered from the source being measured, also that some units need separate supply. Have looked on ebay but can't find any that indicate the power can be drawn from the measured source. Can anyone suggest which can use the power input from the source being measured? Help appreciated
  11. I have a collection of old terrets and swingers but not the base plates. I want to fasten a couple to the pigeon box and believe some sort of flat plate with a treaded portion is needed. Can anyone suggest a supplier? I've looked at the main chandlers but they only sell the complete units

  13. My cables are 70mm, I note you suggest may not be worth the trouble. What I will do though is shift the Adverc sense wire as you suggest. Going back to my original post I'll leave the Smartgauge sense where it is. Thanks for your help
  14. A lot to consider here, as I have five batteries (12345) I have the in/out diagonally opposite but one battery in if that makes sense. That is the pos in/out is on battery No2 and the neg in/out on battery No 4. I think I picked this configuration on the forum or the SG web site. Have I got this right? How does your doubling up suggestion work on my five battery and 'one battery in' connections arrangement? Advice appreciated.
  15. I have five domestic batteries, a Smartgauge and an Adverc alternator controller. Currently sensor wires for SG and Adverc Pos and Neg are connected on the same posts as the main 'in and out' terminals respectively on the batteries. This means a number of connections to the same posts. Is there any reason why I should not have these sensor connections made to other batt posts in the bank so as to reduce the number of wires stacked up on one post?

  23. Thanks both for the info, makes it clear. Waiting for the deluge regarding thrusters though
  24. As I understand things my Adverc controls the charge to the domestic bank and somehow also the starter battery and bow thruster battery. The sensor wire from the Adverc is attached to the domestic bank. So in effect I have three 'banks' each separated by a blocking diode. How does the Adverc fulfil the different charge requirements for each bank? Will it fully charge the starter and thruster? Thanks
  25. Another one to miss is the Hop Vine at Burscough on the L&L. Used to be very good but beer not as good, food expensive for a pub and if you stay on for a drink it gets rowdy during the last hour when the kitchen staff finish and they make every effort to get drunk asap laced with foul language. A real shame its not what the pub used to be when this sort of behaviour was not tolerated.
