  3. There is an active club for you. The Russell Newbery register. You can join on line, a dear no longer friend who is no longer with us was a member for years
  4. The size of the boat is immaterial to the size of the cauliflower realy. A 60 foot widebeam could have whatever you wanted. The size is dictated by what you want hot water for and how often??? That is a piece of string question dependant entirely on numbers of people and lifestyle choices.

  9. You have regular digs. To be honest though carrying a scanner that may or may not point to a roadside problem isnt quite the same as being able to quickly get yourself back on the road following a puncture.

  11. Years ago, however only last week I helped a holidaymaker who had pulled into the car park with a hole in his tyre. He didnt have a spare in his car so I took his wheel to a local garage who I know. I suppose its easy enough to rely on AA or similar but a proper spare wheel and jack makes way more sense.
  12. I always try to avoid poxy alloy wheels but it is becoming increasingly hard to do they corrode on the tyre seal area and lose bloody pressure albeit slowly. Good old steel wheels with wheel trims are my fave and cheap as chips to replace if ever needed. My present car has poxy alloys. The no spare wheel thing is also a right pain in the arse, those silly emergency can things are as much use as a chocolate fireguard. Why do we seem these days to be going backwards with car design.
  13. There is a so called Gout diet that most doctors hand out, I have one or two. However most doctors also state that its not a done deal that its food/drink related and it may be that whatever you eat or drink makes no difference. The diet is the usual cop out one that just says dont eat anything nice, stick to lettuce and hot water and you will be fine 🤣

  16. It takes a long time to get a confirmed diagnosis. Doctors don't like to prescribe allopurinol for instance until they are sure. I had tests over several months between attacks. What they are still unsure about is the cause, they do think certain foods trigger attacks but it's far from a certainty.
  17. It's been linked to several major problems. For most people there isn't a problem but for those effected the problems are major. These include serious heart problems and kidney damage amongst others. My heart is damaged and my kidneys are ucked. I have zero chance of matching either of my parents ages. Hey ho, shit happens. Correct. To give a definitive diagnosis it must be done during an attack. They syringed fluid out of my knee to analyse and confirm along with blood tests it was uric acid that was the problem.
  18. Tell him to keep an eye on things, leave it too long and gout can cause significant damage. I used to munch diclofenec and brave it out but ended up with a major attack and in hospital for a week. It usualy starts with the jokey big toe joint where everyone laughs but can get much, much worse. I had an attack that effected all my toes, my hands, wrists, elbows knees etc all at once. Insane pain.
  19. HUGE alarm bell. I suffer from chronic gout, have been hospitalised on two occasions in complete agony. Have taken allopurinol now for many years which keeps it suppressed. However I was also prescribed long term diclofenec and it destroyed my kidneys!! Please everyone be ultra careful with any NSAID drug including the weaker over the counter ibuprofen they can do serious long term damage.
  20. It is dependent on location isn't it. We are surrounded by small roads with no dual carriageway even for about fifteen miles. Even without the ludicrous speed limits here the average speed is low. We are going onto some motorways next week 😩
  21. If it's like my first old Lister LR2 on my first boat it will burn so much oil it never needed changing 🤣

  23. It's quite surprising if U look at the stuff on car pooters. I reckon a city based car average speed would be in single figures? Anyone?
  24. My car pooter says my average speed is 23 mph.
