  3. Chapel Hill John - entrance to the Kyme from the Witham, 1 1/2 hours upstream from Boston.
  4. Visited the boat today, mainly to bring the bike back as there are some swaps going on. So I took a few pics while I was there. Nothing special......just first of the year.

  7. I've discovered most boats sink through rainwater. Next is rising waterlevels, trap the boat under rails etc. and thirdly is skin fitting failure, or pipes or hoses connected, often due to freezing. The two I know which sank with rising water both sank when the zdrive got stuck under the rail on the bankside. I know of 2 cheap boats......an 18ft cruiser...hull only, and a 22ft Dawncraft.
  8. A good point has been raised, regarding diesel freezing in very cold weather. White road diesel has additives to stop this happeneing. Before the common use of diesel cars, I believe half a pint of paraffin/kerosine etc. was put in to winterise the fuel. This was in the 50s and 60s, and I was told it is different today by a refinery owner a couple of years or so ago. Red diesel doesn't have this additive, so some petrol or paraffin needs to be added, unless the supplier has put something in to prevent it freezing. Maybe any supplier who reads this can update us with the facts today........
  9. That looks to be a terrific boat you've built and a very good advert for your company ........ I know we seem to read of a few horror stories, but with decent, caring and dedicated people like yourself and Gary, I'm sure many will be satisfied with their new purchases

  14. OK, no rush. I know he was thinking of selling to Roy, but really wanted Roy to do it up for him, which he wouldn't. Anyway he bought Storm, so has had a boat to 'play with' With it's indian head on, I've always likes this boat......in fact it could??? be the boat I saw that first make me think of getting one, as it was moored on the side of the Brayford which I walked round with Barney. Those moorings have all gone now. Supposed to be major change, however some new moorings have been put in, but no visitor moorings yet. Don't know what is happening at the minute.
  15. Yes, I think he could be persuaded to sell it. Do you want to phone so I can tell you what's what. 01522 877979/077997 43920
  16. Hi Owen - Mussel was built by the owner about 9 years ago now. I haven't seen it last year, so hope all is well with them. It was moored at Boston in 2006, and they took a week or two's boating once a year. I first met them at Bardney when they stayed the night a few years ago now. I think he told me when he built it the time I took the photos. This was while I was moored at Bardney. Brilliant place to be as you meet ever so many as they have to stop for the lock. I don't know what type of boat Macanor is. I only know details from my friend Roy, who has known the boat for many years, as he used to be in the Brayford in Lincoln. In fact I think all he did was buy old boats to do as a hobby, and then sell them. Don't think he ever moved about....well not much. Probably as the Brayford is not BW water, so you don't have to have a license.

  18. Brilliant news Carl But why am I reminded of a telly ad ........
  19. Sorry the minutes have been hours, but I didn't realise I'd only got them in WebShots.....so lucky the account is still there. I started to download all the pics etc. then had to go food shopping.....then my friends phoned to ask if I wanted a ride with them to the coast to take the dogs out. Been treated like a celeb today, driven around, wined and dined, so no complaints at all So here's the first picture You can see others at http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/150273814JTXFuO
  20. Not what you're looking for, but one of my favourite boats could well be for sale. She requires new planks along the waterline. Built by a local man, who worked for a boatyard, so has many top quality components. I have heard through my friend who was thinking of buying her. The owner wasn't sure what to do, however......... When I took her for a short trip a few years ago, when working on her, she was one of the best handling boats I have had the pleasure of steering. I'll get some pics in a minute.

  22. Cheers mate..... I remember you losing your genny in Loughborough..........I don't suppose Dan's got a genny with no filler cap P.S. I really do want to try to make it as far south as possible this year. Arnie said he wants to take his boat to London, however I'm still not sure of his width, but he should be coming with me with a bit of luck. P.P.S. If we have 3 boats following each other, anyone we meet would have to back out anyway

  25. I've still got the lure I made by the way. It has detachable wheels, and has a romote switch. Is better than ones sold for £90 or so I've been told, so if anyone wants to make me an offer..........
