  1. Thanks......I look forward to seeing them! ......
  2. I am looking for some information on BETELGEUSE, a Grand Union Canal Carrying Co. Star Class 'Small Woolwich' butty. I have already found out quite a lot HERE , but know that it was used as a restaurant boat....still pulled by Snowy and still known as the Chester Packet? This isn't mentioned anywhere. Does anyone recollect this boat and ....even better...have any pictures? Thanks....in anticipation... ........lemon This was probably in the eighties/nineties......in Chester. Snowy was stabled near to the dry dock (which I think I read somewhere on this forum is now closed?).

  4. I must admit, whilst walking my Mum's dog along the canal yesterday with my two boys, I hung a couple of poo bags from trees on the route.......I didn't want to be holding hands and poo bags at the same time. We picked them up on the way back. I did tell all the complete strangers that we met along the way (much to the embarrassment of the boys) that if they saw any poo bags they were mine and I would be picking them up on the return journey.......I think my children would have preferred me not to share the information!

  8. What about the single men that have never really been on a boat?
  9. Part cook them then saute (don't know how to put the thingy on the e) with chestnuts and garlic butter..........My mum does them this way at Christmas and it is the ONLY time I ever eat sprouts.........it's surprisingly delicious....... Lemon
  10. Me too...Me too!!! I'm already practicing the grin (may get a little strained as I still have a house to sell!) Brilliant Lee......I loved the pictures ......wishing you many happy cruising hours....... Lemon
  11. Thank you....that was beautiful. Giving me even more to look forward to when we get our own boat......I'll try to be patient .....it will be worth the wait! Lemon

  13. I'm reasonably new to the forum, but noticed very early on that it wasn't a good idea to ask a question until I already knew most of the answer! I have wasted hours and hours using the forum's search facility....... I came across the above link by accident and it has made a tremendous difference. It is definitely worth bookmarking. I do have a complaint though........ Not wanting risk the shame of asking a 'stupid' question I have, though relentless searching (you name it I've searched it), discovered BOAT BLOGS........I am totally addicted...... my studio is gathering dust , the door goes unanswered, , my children are going hungry and I won't let anyone share my laptop! Is there a cure.....I feel the 'research' excuse is wearing thin........great site....great people (warts 'n all) Cheers Lemon
  14. How about something for children?
  15. I don't yet live on a boat, but it is something that I have wanted to do for many years. Children, schools, lack of permanent moorings etc, have put this dream on hold. Financial reasons can sometimes work in ones favour! If things weren't so dire financially, my mum would never have considered letting us use the eog mooring. My boys are as excited as I am.....all we have to do now is sell the house! We have something to work towards, and although in the current housing market things aren't going to happen quickly, I feel positive about the future. Not really an appropriate answer I know, but 'financial reasons' are the only reason that I will get the opportunity to do this. Lemon
