  3. Low bridges and narrow locks could be problem too
  4. That should put boatbot's mind at rest. Well done yet again Carl A few more like you would be welcome by all I suspect. "Happy New Year" to ya

  6. I was thinking the same, maybe they will, it could be they don't have anyone around capable of doing it due to Xmas holidays. I assume they'll require pump and/or tanker and a means to get there. Edited to add. Why don't EA tow it down to Grantham bridge boat services and get it sorted there. No polution and they could either rectify the problem or just keep an eye on it.
  7. Ignore the negative, consider the positive Good luck with sorting it all out.
  8. We've got a drummer next door but one on the marina, hardly ever hear him, even when we can it doesn't bother me, I like the drums and he plays well. I suppose if you can play properly I can't see why anyone would object and in any case as most NB's are reasonably insulated for warmth I imagine that in itself helps somewhat to a degree of soundproofing.
  9. It helps if you lay kitchen towel around the sides and then put bleach on, it holds it in the area that needs treatment longer, then lift it off together with the gunge and rinse with clean water.
  10. http://www.polyseamseal.com/ttultra.shtml Our plumber recommends this as being as good as it gets. If you're using it to seal around a bath half fill the bath so that it dosen't pull the seal down when in use, similar with a shower, just put something heavy in it until it's fully cured.

  12. Are you sure these will do the job, description states 'Use on Soft Metals, Plastic and Plywood'. I would have thought a quality hole saw with plenty of oil would've been better, like a Starrett. I agree with you though re: 'knock outs', I'm not sure bashing a cast stove with a hammer is something I'd want to risk.

  14. All the more reason to get some extra funding perhaps. It's surprising what people will pay to explore hidden London, especially visiting foreigners and/or holidaymakers. Even locals could be ignorant as to the existance of these vaults and tunnels, might even get you some extra publicty. Good luck with The Pirates Club, looks a worthy cause.
  15. Thanks for the pics 'Lady Muck', [and the link 'Mark99'] I love to see these old places, suppose it's a hankering for the past, it happens when you get older ya know! Ever thought of guided tours to add to the Pirate funds? I'd certainly be interested in a tour and to learn some of the history behind it all before it disappears under some horrific 'development' which happens all too often these days.

  17. Check with manufactuer, but never just put a small loop and fill with water . If you need to put water in then you'll need something to take the heat out of the water, like rads, chlorifier or towel rail, otherwise it'll just boil and vent steam if you're lucky or explode if you're not. Filling with sand is OK but I'm not sure if there is a specific type of sand that is required.

    Batteries

Have you tried one of these on Ebay £9.99 inc: Granny & eggs may come to mind, but please don't bite http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/12v-Solar-Battery-ch...=item3ca89c49fe
  20. Really depends on how long you're going to leave the boat and the likely tempertatures while you're away. We drained the fresh water system down this year including emptying the gas water heater completely. The central heating system is 50% anti-freeze, so left that, and the engine is also 50% anti-freeze [fresh every year], so I suppose that's why we didn't bother with the heater this year. I think we left a heater on last year because we only bought it in Oct 08, and it was our first NB, so I wasn't too sure whether it was the correct thing to do, now with the help of this forum I feel it should be OK barring any unforseen problems. I forgot to empty the fresh water tank [about 1/2 to 1/3 full] and the pumpout tank but as these are both below the water line their contents hopefully won't freeze enough to cause any damage.
  21. Not coming to one your BBQ's
  22. Stick the power washer nozzle into the tank, give it a good blasting, make sure you don't get blowback . Get another vent fitted opposite end to the existing. Job done. You'll never need any more additive. The freely circulating air will encourage the nice bugs to kill the smelly bacteria. Additives kill the nice ones and encourage the smelly bacteria. All that most additives do is cover up the smell. Least ways that's what I've been led to believe.
  23. I grant you it looks white but never noticed that it smells. Got me coat, yet again.
