I do get the feeling that some posters here just haven't read the complete thread or choose the 'I've got them, I've never been knocked in yet, so they must be safe' attitude.
Our trad has no direct access to the stern from within, so you have to come out through the side door and along about 6ft of the gunnel to get there, as OH has a dodgy back I thought it would be good to have somewhere for her to sit whilst going along.
I asked about having them fitted but the marina engineer pointed out the perils, so I didn't, but if he hadn't and I had fitted them, having read this thread and heard about some of the tragedies, I'd think I'd remove them.
I know it's not the seats themselves that are dangerous, but having them [1] clutters an already small area, and [2] says it's OK to sit here, when we know it's not, so why have them.
