  1. Filtermania have always sorted me out without issue.
  2. Thank you for your answer. New stove. Just need small holes to secure to hearth base. I don’t want to crack the cast. Slow or high speed. Memory tells me slow with lubricant. But memory has its own mind.
  3. Cast Iron. Same question please. Stumpy legs on new Morso stove.

  7. I have my own personal ignore button. It’s in my brain. Used often.
  8. Nice to wave to you both a few days ago. I hope you don’t mind me adding, Jane and Graham, you have done superb jobs on the both the cottage and a previously sorry looking Alnwick. The boat especially looks fabulous. Now I’m sure you will make time to enjoy both. Glad you have both come through some very difficult times.

  10. When our fresh water tank, in the bow, is nearly empty (a day approx left) it bongs, flexes to let us know. When we refill the tank and starts to overflow when it is full once again it bongs. Once full and we start to use the water within, say, a guess of a gallon, it relaxes and bongs again. Then the cycle begins again. A very communicative water tank. Having said all that I have a concern that all this expansion and contraction may have an effect on the welds and joints. All seems okay so far.

  12. Spring wood Haven. £27.50.
  13. Very good. Thanks for the link. Worth a listen.
  14. I have taken a liking to Old Crafty Hen. Very nice. Tesco and Morrison sell for four for seven pounds. I little stronger but ‘nice’.
  15. Thanks for that. Worth consideration. Just have to get to the runner now. I shall find a way.
  16. No mention of what it is.
  17. Once out and about on their 3 or so month patrol very few of the crew know where they are and the idea is not to let anyone else know. They go deep and stay deep unless emergency incidents dictate otherwise. Very rarely. A friend of mine told me once they collided ‘with something’ but stayed submerged as their water tightness wasn’t breached. Years later he told me it was a Russian submarine that was looking for them. They were never identified which suggests they didn’t know it was a British sub. Strange world innit?
  18. Not sure if they would go anywhere near the surface during a patrol but I do believe they use sea water for making, what we refer to, fresh water.
  19. On the last number of ships on which I served in the RN they had sewage treatment plants onboard. They had living gremlins within that had to be looked after. No chemicals down the loos etc. The water was okay. I, and others, survived. Did the water change slightly after a popular run ashore? I’m not sure. Nuclear subs get water from somewhere.
  20. Our stern sliding hatch has always been stiff to operate. Some years ago someone on here recommended a product called Slick. I bought some. Never used it. Still have it. Now the hatch is, it’s fair to say, solid and won’t move. I have used a length of wood and a club hammer to shift it a little but it’s so difficult. My plan is to remove the hatch completely and apply this slick stuff having rubbed down and varnished the ply inlay on the underside of the hatch. I seen to remember that the stickiness of the slick is not too good so I am thinking of using a contact adhesive. Those in the know, may I ask if this will work. I will put a picture of the box that slick came in. It’s like a hard silicon type of plastic.
  21. Quoted as someone was looking for this thread.
  22. We had a cello. Then we bought a AVTEX TV. We have had to have repairs done. They are so efficient. Collected, repaired and sent back within two, three days. They are in Cardiff. The latest fault I was lead to believe was powering TV Fire Stick from TV usb. However, just come off the phone to AVTEX. I’m now informed that unlikely USB will not damage the TV power wise. TV repaired and will return tomorrow. In our case no charge. They manufacture and assemble their own TVs. Yes, I have criticised them at times but at the end of the day great company to deal with. We have a sound bar that is, in my opinion, essential. Have a look at their web site. On the following post I have commented on the very subject. Seems USB power is okay and unlikely to cause an issue.
  23. I know that now. But didn’t before. I realise there’s a warning on the packaging of the fire stick but something as important as this should be more prominent.
  24. Ginger Beer or Ale please. I do like rum. But the best, Pussers or Woods, I have to drink neat. Just a thing I have always done.
