We are currently based at Acton Bridge on the northern Trent and Mersey. Certainly happy with it's location & facilities.

I lost the will to live yesterday after following this thread, but it's bloody good reading From what i gather, those on Housing benefit havn't the time to cook proper food cheaply, preferring a diet of chicken nuggets c/o McDonalds or Icelands readymeals of gloop. So many people don't actually recognise the animals they are eating these days, thinking it's all processed in a factory. It's a case of won't cook, can't cook or can't be arsed, preferring to watch that 42" screen TV all day. Get yourself a slo cooker, cheapish joints of meat, vegatables & make up a stock. You can feed a big family very cheaply. I can see everyones points of view & it's good to see discussion other than about Bowthrusters for a change

Many burglaries result in nothing taken or so it appears. Have you ID onboard, bank cards, anything they could use? Make sure the brandy hasn't been doctored you may have to try it a few times, then you'll at least feel better

I started reading this an hour ago & fell asleep !! I've saved the doc for when i cannot sleep at night, i've found a cure to make me sleep Really cannot believe how many departments are out there, how did we cope many years ago?

I find the best place to moor in solitude is next to a sewage works (especially in summer). Wait till winter when you'll find there's no moorings anywhere, they'll all be taken by long term moorers with 10ft of ash piled up alongside. We actively encourage boaters to join us, especially if it's late in the day & we know there's no moorings further along & they'll have to travel in darkness. You can of course keep a dinghy on your roof then place it in the water behind/in front when you moor

Soap is handy to aid the hatch sliding.
