  2. Thanks for the replies. I have tries vinegar also used LeeSan descaler, neither seem to do any good. Fred
  3. Changing the subject slightly, I have a pump out on my boat that has a holding tank in the engine room, some way from the macerator toilet, that just got blocked, its taken me all day to clear. The pipe work is in hard plastic but I used the wrong elbows, should have used sweeping bends my fault. Any way it turns out that the pipe work was full of scale so had to tap pipes to loosen scale with small hammer and use a wet vac to suck it out. Now working fine. I tried putting a peace of scale in a jug with some descalant but it did nothing. Does anyone know of some descalant that can be left in the pipe work over night that will dissolve the scale. Thanks Fred.

  15. Hi all looks like as usual we all agree to differ on this one. I own a wide a mooring in a marina on the Thames for the last eight years. I have always purchased a Gold licence but use the CaRT waters very infrequently, but that is my choice. tjderby appears not to own a boat yet, but would like the licencing rules changed, as others have said, find a marina or mooring that does not need a boat to be licenced. Let’s hope the powers that be don’t read these sorts of threads and make it so much more complicated to licence our boats. It works so leave it be. Fred.
  16. How efficient is this, phoned CRT on Wed 18th Dec to renew our Gold licence, as we have not received our reminder yet, paid by credit card over the phone, received text on Fri 20th saying licence should be with us with in the next 5 working days, licence received Sat 21st Dec. Well done CRT.
  17. Hi B Various companies do pram/cratch covers for wide beam narrowboats so look around, we are just having one fitted by Wilsons. My boat is 11ft wide. Fred

  19. Have you checked to see if this brokerage company is a member of any federations such as the British Marine Federation, if they are try contacting them. But as most people have said WALK away from this boat. Drayke.
  20. Could it be that you have miss read the thread on NBW and that they were talking about a NEW LINK between Slough and the Thames entering somewhere near Windsor perhaps? Drayke.
  21. Sailaways should come with an annex 3 not an RCD, the shell builder should supply this. The person that is the project manager for the fit out should arrange to have the finished boat RCD or wait five years after the boat is finished before putting it up for sale. Try checking with the British Marine Federation but you will need to be a member. Regards Drayke
