  11. Well I've tested these suckers and they seem pretty secure. I'm not that bothered as the chances of 6 un-sucking at the same time would be slim. There will also be some Nylon cord attached as a back up as well as the cable it's self. I do have some strong Taxi sign magnets which I've used for other things, they're too big though for these flexi panels, Around half the size would be perfect though. Also the sucker idea will leave an air gap behind the panels, although not necessary it will improve performance. Of course the magnets would too, but 6 of those size magnets would probably be heavier than the panel which I intend to move around.
  12. Also where's your MPPT controller sourced from, there have been problems from cheap Chinese units as some members have posted previously.
  13. Use the clap method to kill a fly. A fly will always flee the opposite direction of the first threat it sees, using the clapping method, it sees one hand flies the opposite direction to only then meet the other hand and gets squatted between as hands meet. Try it, it does work. TBH though there seems little point if trying to kill them, there's so many especially if you moor in the rough as we tend to do. I can't be bothered with fly screens as it reduces air flow through the boat. Through the daytime insects aren't much of a problem, it seems to be early to late evening is the worst when you can add moths and Dragon flies & midges amongst others into the mix. We just get used to having to live with it, it's what happens in the countryside.
  14. I wasn't planning to do a permanent fixing so to be able to move the panels from one side of the boat to the other in winter, even hanging them on the cabin sides, so I'm planning on using heavy duty 50mm suckers. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200790859945?var=500253280499&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 These suction cups are pretty good and with a planned 6 fixed to each panel they should hold it down well hopefully. The flexi panels will only be used over the winter period and stowed away for the summer.
