    Generators

I am paying about 50p/kWh - this from a communal generator, i.e. 4 boats plugged into a 6kW genni, and not counting capital costs. I agree - at least £1/kWh for a small petrol genni. m@
  13. On my old boat, I had similar power requirements to you. I found that 60W solar + running the engine once a week, would provide all the power I needed through the summer. I didn't bother with a controler, just wired the panels straight to the batteries (With a fuse) m@

  19. Or how about bonding the tegs on the hull as the cold side, and delivering heat via pipes from the back-boiler to a small radiator on the hot side? m@

  23. Are you sure it is for Diesel? Diesel is not normaly burnt with a wick because of it's high flash point. Any chance of a photo? m@
  24. From the data sheet: "Suitable for hot and cold portable water" Should be OK on a boat then! m@
  25. I have a length of heavy chain in mine to keep everything tight. Can't have them taut, the river can go up 3 feet overnight! Springs are a good idea, but I wouldn't trust springs! If pulled around, the clove hitch can work loose. Perversely, it can also jam when wet. {http://knots-guide.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html} m@
