  1. I have one of these from ALPKIT.COM and it is really good. Only £12.50 it won the Trail magazine best value torch. Its a friendly UK company to boot. clicky Available in 4 colours
  2. I am having a good bye party on Saturday. Starting from 8pm at easter spot for drinks and a fire.

It would be good to see you and your son.

  3. The local community is the public. This is made up from (among others) boaters, fishermen, walkers, runners, cyclists, photographers, twitchers etc etc. They all use the towpath and it should be kept in a safe state of repairs. BW are the body apointed to keep it maintained and I will ensure that they do. Tim
  4. I can hardly imagine! It would seem from his email that BW are unhappy about the cottage people driving across to access their property. Apart from the width, the aquaduct must be strong enough. It has all that heavy water and boats going across it. Is there anything better than a bollard? Tim
  5. I have further information back from BW, and it seems that a mistake on their part has been made. Here is the email I have recieved from BW I think that if this is on the correct side of the bridge and they put some high visibility tape on it then a compromise will have been reached. What do you think? Tim
  6. You would think the he would get bored of doing that. He does help organise a nice carol service though
  7. I believe you have misunderstood some joking around. As to me discussing the situation on a public forum, I think that is a sensible idea. You do not live on or near the K&A so you do not understand that there is a good and diverse community from across society, I am collecting a range of views about the situation to ensure that as a community we are satisfied. With regards to FOI, it is my right to have access to the information that a public body holds. To be blunt, please mind your own Now I know that you are joking but maybe Gaggle thinks you are serious. It is a shame that I share a first name with the same chap. I too have had polite conversations with him.
  8. I have contacted sustrans and am awaiting a reply from their local chap. If he agrees with bw then I shall have to let it be. I will do an foi to see eat the complaints have been.
  9. I have an answer back from BW which I have copied here. Please can I have some feedback about what if anything I should reply with. I still think that having a random post in an otherwise unobstructed path is unacceptable, but what would suitable alternatives be?
  10. I phoned BW to enquire why it was there, it seems to serve little purpose save to pose a massive safety risk to towpath users. Have you seen it? I stopped to see how securely attached it was and confirm that it is getting more and more wobbly. It would be better if BW removed it of their own accord or replaced with something large enough for users to see, but... Where theres blame theres a claim
  11. Not only mental, but imagine cycling/walking into that at night! Its just about right for a knee capping. They went away to get an answer and have come back saying that the cheif engineer will have a look at it this week and will report back to me. It was authorised by BW as the woman I spoke to had ordered it. Maybe the chief engineer could have a look at them when he is done with the bollard. If you hear of anyone injuring themselves on it, myself and BW would like to know about it. It would make a great bollard to moor against if it was 8ft closer to the canal.
  12. Has anyone noticed the new bollard at Dundas? It is in the middle of the towpath between the liftbridge and the aquaduct. It appears to be there to stop people from driving along the towpath (although there is a house on the otherside that uses it for access). I have phoned BW to see what they have to say about it as I would like to see the risk assessement carried out for it. It is absolutly lethal to walkers and cylcist who use the towpath in the dark, as it has no reflective parts. Does anyone know what the process is for BW installing new equipment? Do risk assessements happen? I forgot to take a photo such was my amazement over such a daft thing to do, but here is a googled image of similar If anyone has a spanner to hand it is secured by 4 bolts

  14. Hi Shippo Are you a knitter, and if so are you on ravelry? Tim

  17. Bodge is a bit strong. Just because it is called "Camping Roll Mat" does not mean that it does the job. I think that is better than the tape as you can easily cut the entire seal from one piece and not have any gaps, or complicated mitre angles. Cork tiles used to be the norm, but they are rather hard to find now.
  18. I used an old camping roll mat. No problems a couple of years later and less than a fiver. Tim
  19. it is well, very square. I like the stove though
  20. I have a mastervolt mms monitor thing and I had a similar problem to you, in that even when I was charging the counter never increased. The solution was that every negative must be connected to the correct side of the shunt. I mean every lead, you cannot have even one connected differently or the counter cannot count. Have a look and see what you can see going on. If you cannot work it out then post a diagram of what you have. Tim
  21. And it is an excellent service. Congrats deleted on seeing sense.
  22. My two pennys worth is that it is a combination of The hot sun Some grease, oil, or poorly keyed surface when it was painted The towel holding water against the paint I would rub it down and repaint if you are worried. You could paint the end of the rail in a contrasting colour on each side as a bodge/getaround. And dont leave moisture trapping stuff on the paint. Tim
  23. No you can't but you can roll it in glitter. Tim
