    Engines

Weve got a vintage dormans van den horst. It chuggs and at the end of a cruise you are so sleepy we have to have a snooze before going to the pub. It is a but noisy but you cant miss us.....
  4. If we won the euro lottery we would buy a huge chunk of countryside - with a marina in the middle and a canal system round the outside with interesting ways if getting in and out and around. Then everyone in our Marina could come a live rent free and we would stay or cruise. We would have the best pub/clubhouse in the world. We would have supplies of what ever from beer to biscuits helicoptered in when ever....and a lauderette on site with dryers and folding machines or washing lines... bliss

    Brass

I put my mushrooms in casseroles.....but you should never wash mushrooms - they lose their flavour - havent tried putting Cillit Bang in the casseroles - although mon capitaine did once make a chilli with strawberry jam instead of tomato puree - he has new glasses now
  6. I had 3 humungus spiders on Thursday night bungee jumping all over the place and one spun a web with bits of my hair ughgh they were so big that my cat (who has been trained catch the odd stray we do get in ran off to the engine room) - so next day after daubing the window frames with beeswax my faithfull dog and I went scouring the forest floor for conkers, we came back to pockets bulging and dispensed them along the window sills - since then not a spider inside at all but outside still catching the mozzies and other crud outside.....
  7. I can honestly say that children are no problem if they are well behaived and do not constantly run up and down wooden pontoons and shout and scream all day. We experience this when weekenders bring their children/grandchildren and it is very annoying especially if you do shift work or like me the other day four screaming noisy children started running up and down this had the pontoon shaking and bashing the boat around and the delicate artwork I was in the middle firstly got daubed with the wrong colour then as they chased my cat she flew in the window in fright and knocked the water over the rest of my painting. I was not pleased and had to shout at them, they then started to chase my dog who got upset and barked I was then accused of having an uncontrollable dog. We have a child on our marina who as a child who has never known any other way of life walks every where and is very careful and considerate of other people. It is all down to the parents/grandparents to be responsible.
  8. Only blokes ask this question - I wonder why ???
  9. I go along with the quineeneen stuff in the G&T's also (sorry to bring this subject up those squeemish amungst us - me included) BUT dont get rid of your spiders.... Nature takes care of its own - its a jungle out there and spiders love mozzies let them trawl their nets over you windows an your will be bite free. Also keep drinking the g&ts if it doesnt comatos you then it will the mozzies and they wont feel up to making any eggs to lay hehehehe

  15. Do you carry life jackets ????? Do you carry life jackets ?????
  16. I chuck out any old cat food that our boat tiger doesnt eat by next meal time. The ducks, swans geese and fish love the biscuits and I guess our resident pike likes the meaty bits. ducks love cake and biscuits as do the carp and they all love pasta cooked or otherwise. I made some once and didnt dare eat it but we had fish round out boat for days.
  17. Dont take an ironing board - who needs one - but my neighbour is starting a new trend - kilts could be interesting for us ladies.... Jigsaws the puzzle kind, pack of cards and beer Casserol dish so you can cook you dinner on the go. Get a medium weight duvel - saves having summer and winter stuff. Load so t-shirts (with interesting stuff on them) becomes quite a conversation piece at locks Dog Cat and kids of you have any. thats it really
  18. We have a whole marina full of them. Huge ones, small ones they all thrive on bread, duck crumbs and they route about in our flower tubs especially the herbs....if they hear the rattle of a bread wrapper they even venture in the boat...much to the disgust of the cat. They even eat her biscuits out of her bowl so I guess there are lots of protein in them. They also like cake for a change and I ping them a few spiders as well.

  20. Best Engine - Why its a Dormans of course - what a silly question.
  21. Best way to keep spiders outside is either to train your cat to catch them - it keeps the cat fit and will give you hours of fun. Or the very obvious.....Spiders absolutely hate bees so polish the inside of your boat with beeswax polish - only the best mind you...I do my window frames and ceiling about twice a year - say spring and autumn....I must say I have been lazy and didnt do it this year and have had spiders everywhere so it does work...painting it on with an old dry paintbrush is the best and the inside of your boat will look and smell lovely.
