  1. Thanks, I'll take a look. I am a bit clueless about these things as you can probably tell!
  2. Thanks everyone for the advice. I got one of the 'tractor' keys suggested above to try as I thought it looked similar, sadly it doesn't fit! I've now tried contacting Diperk as apparently they are a Perkins agent in the UK... I've looked at the key hole for the ignition and there are no identifying numbers on it or anything like that, and can't see anything in my boat "manual" put together by previous owners.
  3. A bit, I think?! I have double checked & the engine is a Perkins 103-15...
  4. Hi Hopefully I have posted this in the right place. Hope someone can advise me. My engine key went overboard, and can't find the spare one anywhere. Does anyone have any idea how easy spares are to obtain, if so where/how? I am pretty sure it's a Perkins engine... Thanks in advance.
  5. Short story & picture of the dog here: http://www.brentfordtw8.com/default.asp?se...onmissing19.htm
  6. There are 2 moorings up for tender at Brentford aren't there, for 70 foot boats? Went to have a look at Engineers Wharf but didn't like it, facilities are great but the estate is quite remote, it's about a 10-15 minute walk to the nearest pub & there was only 1 road in & out of the place that apparently gets very busy during peak times. Wasn't keen on paying 5k per year for somewhere I wouldn't enjoy living! Plus as you said, very overlooked by flats, worse than at Brentford...
  7. They chose not to tender the Engineers Wharf Moorings, I think because they had all been advertised etc before the tender system was put in place. It seemed to take months for them all to go.
  8. No problem, who knows why the woman at BW couldn't send a copy of that?! I know on the winter moorings in Brentford there are signs on the winter mooring section stating "RESERVED FOR WINTER MOORINGS," not sure if it's the same in other parts of the system though.
  9. There is a list of BW managed moorings at the following link; http://www.waterscape.com/media/documents/1863.pdf I don't think there is a list of winter moorings only, but this list states whether the moorings are residential, long term, or winter & the prices. Hope this helps someone.
  10. I chucked a bit of left over chow mein in once, & had 2 swans outside who spent the entire evening upside down trying to get the rice!
  11. Hello all  Just wondering what everyone thinks is acceptable (if anything) to throw into the canal? Bread is an obvious one, when feeding the ducks, I have also been known to dispose of vegetable peelings, & grapes that were going a bit funny, on the basis that they will either get eaten by the wildlife or will naturally degrade... however correct me if I'm wrong! I wouldn't empty the toilet into the canal, however I bet most male boaters will have had a wee in thereat some point! Would be interested to hear people's opinions - rubbish I guess is unacceptable, I try to use 'environmentally friendly' washing up liquid, shampoos etc, although I really don't know how much of a difference this makes. A few weeks ago when we had all that rain there was all kinds of crap floating past us at fairly high speed, so some people obviously don't mind using the canal as a rubbish tip! But what happens to all this stuff if it doesn't get fished out? I'm at the very end of the Grand Union at Brentford, will this stuff get washed over the weir/through the Thames lock & end up in the sea at some point, for hundreds of years?
