  1. Just a quick post to let you know I am in discussion with Dan on a format for this so hopefully we will get it started in the next few days!
  2. Not from Woods though their part number for all those alternative OEM's no longer available No reply yet from the possible source I found.
  3. this post is prompted by my search for an Alternative supplier for Brushes for my bow thruster. There seem to be a large number of posts from people looking for parts either OEM or alternative. And in the vast majority of cases if not all forum members come up trumps! However that info then tends to recede into the background. This made me ponder as to the value of a pinned or sub section to the equipment section, where the details of the newly found supplier could be listed in appropriately titled threads. Now i know that this would have to be a moderator controlled section to avoid its becoming a loophole for Ad's so if it is felt that this would be of value I would not be averse to taking on the job. So what does the Panel think worthwhile or not needed.
  4. We have just passed through Burnley and are now moored just on the edge of Blackburn and the amount of rubbish in the canal is far greater than it was when passed this way heading for Skipton last October and much more than we remember the times previous that we did this run!!
  5. have found another potential source of brushes! CARBONBRUSH dot CO dot UK I have emailed for price and delivery More info ASAP Tony Gill
  6. Just contacted Woods This item is no longer available Forgot to say have also asked is their a replacement! (edited to add this comment)
  7. Thanks knew their had to be an alternative!
  8. Thanks Chris exactly what I wanted to hear! Found the thread and hopefully a less eye watering price
  9. Only if you buy cheap flight cases! 30+ years as a tour and technical director, my contacts book is ashore so do not have phone numbers to hand but I will make a couple of calls an try to post specific contacts who might supply part sheets.
  10. It is pretty likely that in the next few weeks I will have to replace the Motor brushes of our bow thruster, approaching minimums after 4+ years! I was pondering the eye watering price and wondered has anyone sourced alternative compatible suppliers. Or failing that who offers the best price for the genuine parts? All info appreciated.
  11. My Grandma's two most used were' 'You look like you've been pulled through a hedge backard's' and 'You don't know your luck till a dead Horse kicks you'
  12. Just a thought this board is also used for making flight cases used in the music and entertainments industry. Try googling' Flight case manufacturers' you may find a supplier willing to sell you a part sheet as they will buy large amounts and will have offcuts
  13. Thorne Marine elsan point is still there, the one on the Manchester side of Lymm is still there (also has a book exchange!)
  14. Yesterday we watched a private boater shut Brewery Bridge in Skipton in the trip boats face. Even having been told that they were right behind him! When asked why? the rude reply was they get F***** paid to work bridges! later that evening we saw the same boat moored on the Water point/sanitary station moorings!
  15. Suggest you google miracle leisure products they do one, not used it tho
  16. We are currently at Bradley just outside of Skipton, very heavy rain late afternoon and through the evening and night, this morning snow on the hill tops! When we were still living in Harrogate the minute the crocuses appeared on the Stray it snowed! Oh the joys of england in springtime.
  17. Thanks Dor that may be just what I am looking for! I can take Google earth out of the equation and create a file to upload into my GPS directly which was the whole point of the exercise. will let you know how it goes. Stu Now i appear to have a means of getting the data onto my GPS i will try to create a track in your software and send it to you for you to add. (Edited for missing word)
  18. I have run AVG both free and currently V9 paid on both Vista and now W7 on a Dongle with no problems! So i think as usual with these things it is a bit the luck of the draw.
  19. Thanks Richard I had found that one but like you I think it only provides an input to Google earth? I may mail them to check. Could be interesting for plotting progress on the day except i don't fancy having the laptop on the deck
  20. I have the two important waypoints for our trip over the Ribble link (Asland Perch & Savick Brook entrance). But i was considering adding a few more Primarily as a means of monitoring progress! Has anyone derived way points from Google Earth? The cursor provides what appear to be high accuracy plots. There would be the danger of miss transcribing as I cannot find means to export data in NMEA format, but it should work, has anyone tried or used this method?
  21. As you have had no other replies I will give you what help I can! We have only ever been in Bancroft basin late or early season It is a very popular place and does get busy! There are moorings out on the river just outside the basin but they are at the mercy of the river levels Late afternoon on a bank holiday may be a problem! I don't think the Japanese tourists are a serious issue/problem if it is a nice weekend it will be busy. But it is a pleasent place to moor. Lots of places serving food various standards/prices within walking distance.
