  7. I fried a Babys Bottle warmer once with an inverter on our old boat. It didnt like the digital version but ran the non digi version fine. I think it was a quasi wave. Other digital items though seemed to cope fine such as dvd recorders and like, and the PS2

  9. Which means go with what you feel will be the correct course of action following all the suggestions above. If you want to line it, line it if you want to black it, black it if you want to leave it, leave it. You now have a good idea what other people do so you can pays your money and takes your choice
  10. We have always used our boats water tank for drinking, with space being a premium I dont understand keeping containers on board for drinking water when there is a perfectly servicable tank on board. Our current boat has the tank in the bow access via the hinged hatch so i can check the contents and steel every time I fill up. When we first bought her there was some minor rust which I treated with Vactan and to date, the rust is still at bay and the tank in good condition. Boat is about 7 years old. Never tried the liner route, and to be honest id rather be able to see the condition of the steel instead of hiding it behind something

  18. Who said anything about a chore, Having mains electric is great and so is having mains pressure water. It also saves wear and tear on those water pumps that we are continually told are not designed for residential style use. There are many things that have the potential to sink a boat, Locks being the biggest culprit but with proper attention and routine those things can be avoided.

  23. A lot of the liveaboards in Holland have mains water set up. On my mates old Barge that we brought back from amsterdam, the mains entered the boat via a skin fitting through the hull and connected to the plumbing just past the water pump. a stop cock after the water pump to isolate the water tank and a stopcock on the mains pipe before it joins the plumbing to isolate the mains when away from base. The landside water pipe attatched to the skin fitting with a screw thread. Showers were lovely and powerful and no noisy water pumps to disturb anyone during the night. The mains water was always turned off when no one was on board. It was a routine you got into just like making sure you'd locked the doors and closed the windows. Its an option I would do if i could get permission from my landlord to fit a permanent waterpipe from the tap to the Boat
