    No its an AJS - ropes that are very soft but stronger than steel are the only proper way to strap an AJS.

    The whole debate is based on two premises. Those that have moorings and choose to pay for them object to those who don't. Those that do not have moorings flout the rules more than those that have moorings. Neither of these premises are proven to my satisfaction. There are a lot of marina based boats without licenses. I am envious of those that do not need a permanent mooring and are able to live on their boats. My circumstances mean I have a land-based millstone. I much prefer to see the waterways being used by everyone than the derelict ditches from the past. Any use helps to protect the system.

    In my opinion a good paint job will look good on any boat if it is properly designed. The good painters are the ones who can successfuly sell a concept to the customer. I would love r&c on my semi trad with professional scumbling. I think it could look good if done right.

    There is a new canal basin agreed near the station and a proposed marina near Tapton Lock. he canal basin is approved and going ahead this will provide a greater impetus for Chesterfield to once again be connected to the canal network. The councils round here are commited to the restoration and fund a professional planner. I will never be able to moor my boat here in Newbold but the proposed marina on the ex-trailboat site is 10 minutes away! Dave hey theres a thought. If I win the lottery could I fund a boat lift to provide a mooring outside my house?
