  1. The breach site is fenced off and a nice security chap said because there was so much scrap and crap in the semi empty canal , they had fenced it off both ends to protect walkers from falling in.Also heavy plant woll require access to the canal bed and its not good for onlookers to be hit by a jcb.
  2. Site cabins set up, a few vans and security on site, also new road laid across farmers field it all takes time to organise the workforce and equipment
  3. Have a look at www.sustrans.org.uk and put the post code in and a map with cycle routes will come up, and you can print it out. or Google maps and click on the bike icon on left hand side of page
  4. Some pics of the breach and around stanley locks, more info on the other thread "any update on liverpool" going to take a lot of pumping to re fill the canal, pumping water uphill from the RiverAult, at reduced rate due to EA regs on water abstraction. a lot of water is being lost at bottom of stanley docks lock in to the docks as well.
  5. Hi there cycled last week Stanley dock to Melling, Stanley dock locks draining quite well almost empty last week, this week a pump has been installed at Melling to pump water up a steep bank to the canal the liverpool side of breach. This week the canal slightly fuller but a lot of mud/silt/scrap in canal and not enough water to navigate safely, one boat trapped at Bootle, next to Tesco and CRT depot, no boats anywhere along the canal, going to be a long job to fill the canal, and some of the banks opposite towpath look a bit dodgy/collapsed but land above higher , so little chance of a further breach hopefuly
