  1. It has smoked since installed. It smokes upon starting. It subsides at average revs. If you give it a burst of speed it puthers. Around 2000 revs it smokes white. Smokes. Also it spits fuel out of exhaust. Coolant seems pretty constant and oil too. 200 for new injectors part ex. So not bad really. Also 30 quid for new rail for the injectors.
  2. My engine smokes white when you give it revs also there seems to be diesel dripping from exhaust. The engine stood for a long time before I bought the boat. any advice would be great Some say fuel pump miss timing, others the injectors.

    Solar.

Currently I have 3 x solar panels, connected to a 30 amp tracer controller. After coming in from work the voltage is showing 13.4 volts after a day in the sun. Using power through the night ie lights webasto tv etc. The next morning the voltage is 12.65 volts,so holding voltage well. my question is how long do I keep the tracer on boost in minutes......boost is set to 14.9 volts then it will drop to 13.8 volts float. I have it set to 120 mins at the moment.
  4. I do apologise for not typing the correct information to you all
  5. example, a 1,600 watt Honda eu2000i, the different available battery chargers can output a maximum of: 1,600 watt * 0.6 PF * 0.80 Efficient charger * 1/14.5 volts = 53 amps maximum @ 12 volts 1,600 watt * 1.0 PF * 0.80 Efficient charger * 1/14.5 volts = 88 amps maximum @ 12 volts 1,600 watt * 1.0 PF * 0.90 Efficient charger * 1/14.5 volts = 99 amps maximum @ 12 volts
  6. What it seems is that some of you on this forum sit in your boats with very little else to do, then patronise other people with comments like...... 1.275 it should be in the style of yoda..... Oh the decimal point is in the wrong place. Why this newbie knows nothing ....what what!!!! Deffo a clique here.
  7. What I should have made clear is we have ran a 100 amp welder on it then it kicked out at 101 amp. Now Alan my dear old chum, who in the 21st century uses words like intransigence...are you Steven Frys brother.
  8. The Honda can produce 100 amp of output at 240 volts.
  9. I think the Honda eu20i has a 8 amp 12 volt output but can put 100 amp at 240 volt. Just inefficient as at 5 amps its around 70 watts
  10. Yeah the genny is feeding the inverter charger. It's a sterling 1500 pure sine wave with 50 amp charger.
  11. Yeah so very in efficient
  12. The last time I charged it dropped out of bulk within 2 minutes, then the absorption stage took hourssssssssssss. I'm wondering if the new sterling charger I'm going to get will perform better....( if that makes any sense)
  13. Cool, cheers for that. It does take a long time to get there. Very time consuming.
  14. Advice needed, tail current to T105 675ah......3 pairs. When I charged them the tail current got to 5 amps. Over a period of hours. Can that tail current damage the batteries. Tail current is 1-3% of c20 which is 6.75 amps if the batteries had formatted upto 100% capacity. Or is my thinking wrong....... so what advice would you give. Also what difference would me changing the interconnects to 70mm sq cable. I have replaced the cables so all cables are now 70 MM sq cable so they are all the same.
  15. The interconnects are rusty which ain't good and also the load via cables wasn't split. Both pos and neg were off the right hand pair, like you all have said he might get better results from just the Trojans
  16. Battery update...... Smart gauge on 76. Victron on 12.54 at 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Took gravity readings...( Four samples from each cell) it was 1.275 minus 12 points for temp. So all seems ok. The readings I took was 2 ah per one point drop right on the smartgauge. Then as soon as it hit C78 it was 4.75 ah per point. Then solar kicked in and placed 0.64 kWh back into the batteries. The smartgauge never got above C87 but virtually all the ah were replaced. Day off so an early start.
  17. le tonkinois without a doubt........... used it on my doors and rear deck rail. 5 to 7 coats exterior though.
  18. Cheers Tony, sounds more time feasible to me, 12 hour days is a killer, now im beginning to understand charging regimes. Full charge to tail current, with a once fourtnightly good equalization charge I think im gonna be ok. Im looking at the long term picture of understanding the battery conundrum. Also I imagine that when the sun kicks in its going to be sweet. As im south facing and going to install controllable tilts for the solar panel. 3 days ago I got 0.58 kwh which for winter/spring is good. Last year the highest I got with two panels 1.09 kwh over the day but at a lower voltage. I have now programmed the controller to Trojans settings. cheers leon
  19. Hi wot ever, that's just what's happening at the moment, being discharged steadily. cheers leon
  20. Yeah I've looked at that whole section however it conflicts with other people's views on setting the Bmv up. Capacity you can't put in without dropping to 50% to find out what ah you have and until the Trojans are up to 100% capacity that will change with each cycle of charging. The peukert is I believe 1.24 for Trojans and charge efficiency of 94% while others said 89%?????? so a little not so straight forward. Arrrrrrrgh
  21. Lololololol made me giggle.... Nice one
  22. I'm proud of my loo I will have you know......lol. ok a question. But here's my set up. sterling inverter charger connected to 500 amp bus bar connected to sterling current limiting vsr pro con 140 amp connected to sterling 200 amp isolator switch and a big mega fuse. Does that sound ok....? also what difference would swapping the 35 MM sq interconnects to 70 MM sq interconnects achieve? i do understand there will be a voltage drop with each connection along the way..
  23. You need a separator then the bacteria don't fight............KERPOW,
