  6. Good advice. We were at the survey and the surveyor answered lots of questions and explained his findings. He also commented candidly on the condition of the boat and we discussed what jobs he'd expect the seller to carry out prior to sale. He more than paid for himself.

  10. No comeback unless.... the broker owns the boat. You have to test things and ask very specific questions as they must answer truthfully - get this in writing etc. If the broker is the owner you have a little more protection.....
  11. Focus on the boat(s) rather than broker. We purchased from a Broker who has, or had a bad reputation but we didn't have any issue and found the whole process fine.... shame to miss a boat just because you *may* have a problem broker.
  12. ok, so if i look on the back of the fridge there may be terminals to take a 12v fan already? thats good!
  13. that makes sense... presume extracting air from the bilge rather than other way?
  14. as an aside to all this, I've heard that having a hole/gap under the fridge into the bilge is beneficial for ventilation - presume it pulls in cooler air? does this stack up or is it a tale?
  15. I'll double check the wattage when next on the boat - its a 12v shoreline - I've guessed its on 12hrs in 24hrs....

  17. well spotted re shower pump, that'll help!! i have two sons who visit with their gadgets so being cautious!
  18. Time will tell. Certainly some of the quirks of this lockdown don't seem to make much sense, but then nothing is making much sense at the moment!
  19. That monitor looks useful Alan, thanks, all ordered. I shall test these devices and see what they actually show. Tony, thanks for your reply. I have currently 4 x 110ah batteries so might just scrape through depending on results of further testing. Point taken re solar - more the better.. had suspected as such plus they would have the added benefit of cooling the roof?
  20. Hi All I've done my first power audit to get an idea of what I could in theory be using. Gone a bit OTT with some things I know but just wanted to check I'm on the right path - any glaring errors or omissions? This is all in prep for solar next year after I've painted my roof..... based on this what would be the recommended amount of solar to pump this loss back into the batteries in a day?
  21. You laugh now Alan, but i think this may become a way of life if Mark Drakeford's dastardly plans come true!
  22. I never tip anyone.... not comfortable keeping peoples wages low. Cup of tea and cake would be more than enough I'd think?
