Thanks Tracey, yes i do need to keep on top of my cleaning (!!).... i do see the bubbles immediately after starting from cold so would that indicate otherwise?

My Aluminium boards only rattle when the boat is idling.... seem ok when we're cruising - not sure if this is the case with all, but just for info!

I know nothing about engines, but if the solenoid is suspect for not stopping the engine could it have seized stopping it from starting?

When I come to sell my boat I'll moor in Paddington with a big sale sign up and see what i can get...
