Dont forget the KD16! This is/was a KD14 mounted verticaly. The water pump was fitted on the front on the crankshaft. Not sure how 2 extra horses were obtained. I had one in my boat at one stage, but it consumed so much oil that I have now fitted a Beta.

If it is a flat 2cyl, then it is probadly a KD14. Once upon a time I had the Vertical version which was named KD16. Spare for this smaller enging are just about non existant. For the KD26 it is not so much of a problem.. I now have a beta because of the amount of oil th Kingfisher consumed. Five litres going up Caen Hill.

I use Taybright in my Boatmans and it stays in all night with no problems. Like everything else on the cut it is getting more expensive. Last bag was £6.95.

Just looking into prices for next spring. Ben at B-on-A has a min charge of £500 Victoria at the boatyard Staverton has a min charge of £550 Cost me £340 two years ago. All seems a rip off to me. Cheers Roger

I have booked in to the above, and plan to leave B-on-A on Wednesday to poodle down to Bristol. Anybody know the state of the River Avon, from all the stuff on tele I,m supprised that nothing ( so far ) on the Bristol Avon. Cheers Roger

Newbury- from Victoria park a 2 minute walk to Tesco in the high street Hungerford- Loads of shops in the High street Pewsey- but a fair walk to to Co-Op Devizes- Several supermarkets and loads of other shops. Bradford on Avon- A new Sainsburys ( was a Budgens) Bath- Just about everything you can think of. Hope this helps.

I have a feeling that BW use there own sub contractor. If you cant get it sorted send an e mail to ian.jarvis@britishwaterways.co.uk From my last meeting with him he is keen to get that sort of problem sorted out.

In addition to any saftey issues, these heaters produce lots of water. I've hear it said that the amount of water is equivilent to the amount of gas consumed.

Welcome. Whatever you decide to buy GET a survey. It will money well spent. To fit out the boat will take many months longer than you estimate. Good Luck
