  1. Yes, Ron, I'm still interested :-) My fit out is going to be super slow as I'm still doing lots of research!
  2. Hi Ron, Here are a couple of pictures of the engine. I have been told it was rebuilt and running but hasn't been for possibly a couple of years. Let me know what you think! Daisy.
  3. Yes, that's definitely it, thank you :-) No idea if this one works, I can barely get to it until I clear the crap out of the way!
  4. Hey :-) Does anyone recognise this stove? I can't find anything like it on the internet and didn't get close enough to see the name on it. Thank you!
  5. John, how can you get over your second regret??? Yes, my not so younger days with motorcycles involved a lot of breaking down :-( Also a lot of laughing though. Welcome to the other newbies; I hope we can journey together as I am also going to be fitting out on a steep learning curve!
  6. Hello again :-) I have read all your comments with great interest; thank you all for posting! I am going to see the boat again tomorrow armed with my camera and notepad so I shall take the number as suggested, Kevin, and that should give me access to lots more information. The boat is only 45' so it does sound far too big; Ron, let's talk PX when I have seen it and have some pictures :-) Old Goat, you sound wise but I am foolish so I only have myself to blame ;-)
  7. Yep, my first boat. I have a hull survey which lists the recommendations including welding. It is effectively a shell I am buying as there is no interior. Tiggs, they are very good questions for me to consider, that is exactly why I joined this forum as I am not fully aware of what I need to ask :-) Any advice always gratefully received!
  8. Yes, it's very appealingly priced :-) Needs lots of work some of which I am going to pay someone else to do, as I am no welder! The rest is for me to muddle my way through and bloody well enjoy the challenge ;-)
  9. Sorry Alan, Johno and John for not replying! I have four Kawasakis and one BSA but will get that down to two bikes for next year. I've very nearly bought a boat so will need to get myself sorted out! I love that garage butty!!!
  10. Hi Athy, It is very much a doer upper and being sold as seen with no guarantee that the engine works. The Perkins engine looks like a popular choice for landy drivers but there are a few boats out there with one. Yes, I was on the steam railway in Portmadog last year :-)
  11. Hi everyone, I have very nearly bought a narrowboat that has a Perkins 4203 engine but will require a gearbox and transmission. Can anyone offer any advice on this? I only have experience of motorbike engines so am a bit out of my depth, so to speak! Thank you for any advice!
  12. I've seen a few wine coolers set in the floor - could a floor box in between the ballast be used as cold storage for veg and such like? (I drink beer not wine, so obviously I prefer it warm ;-)
  13. Has anyone fitted a corner shower tray the other way around? It looks like there's better use of space for changing corridor position but thought I'd see what you experts think!
  14. Tehehe, I see he's using a really useful box! Mine has so far cost me £12 for the seat and £36 for the wee funnel. Just got to get a box and a bottle then build a base out of scrap MDF/chipboard/bendy ply :-) I have been checking out the disposal options and came across these two pages: https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/news-and-views/features/grey-water-isnt-a-grey-areamentions no sewage into the water so I checked out : http://www.thameswater.co.uk/cycles/accessible/sewage_treatment.html which reads for children but sounds like a simple enough process and they use waste as a renewable energy, so it can be environmentally friendly, contrary to popular belief! Cath.
