  1. continental pipe has a wall thickness of 1mm meaning 14mm fits inside 12mm inside 10mm inside 8mm. this is too thin for good compression so metric pipe uses inserts for compression fittings. whether or not this is acceptAble to BSS i don't know obviously it's the way it's done in continental Europe. it would depend, I am guessing, on whether metric pipe has the relevant BS standards it also, incidentally and off topic, means 15mm pipe is difficult to source in continental Europe though some would have it this deliberate EU sabotage of british shipping

  3. it's still good practice to fit a stop valve for each appliance rigid pipe or not.
  4. the facebook discussion says that fellow moorers tried to hire a pump while the boat was still afloat but couldn't get the right one. they then rang CRT but CRT don't have pumps any more. it then sank that evening ( as covered in a novel by Lewis Carroll) because of the front deck it's going to be a right bugger to refloated
  5. strewth ( again) there's 10 minutes of my life I won't get back.
  6. http://www.canalworld.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=14697 and no it doesn't, the pipe and cables must be 35mm ( from memory) apart
  7. strewth this forum likes to make things complicated.
  8. 3/8" pipe. no you don't need a valve after the bubble detector but you do need one by the cooker.
  9. somewhere between £300 - £600 per month depending on condition and length.
  10. interesting post - and interesting site. here's an idea for boaters needing extra mooring in London - 4 of the big pot magnets then you attach to anything metal where you can't use pins.

  12. on the old calor ovens ( for example) thr burner rack is just sitting on two lugs, not fixed down, so could get dislodged. it's also possibly a partially blocked jet but if so the flame will also be smaller than normal.
  13. check the burner rack hasn't been dislodged. the symptom is too much air. on a modern oven I doubt it's adjustable but it might have an air screw.
