  1. Come on then your turn: evidence please of the nationality of these criminals.
  2. Passing over the risible fallacy of "open door" - I agree with you. There would be no discussion over racism if the OP had simply reported the illegal taking of fish.
  3. I would still have objected to the tagging of the OP "Eastern Europeans" - it will make finding racist stuff on CWDF easier for someone I guess - but if they have been caught I would not have objected to the description 'eastern european"as I think your description of Polish comes from them being identified and thus is not a racist catchall.

  5. This is exactly the kind of assumption the OP leads to.
  6. Can we have your evidence that this was down to Eastern Europeans please? Rather than just being an assumption. I don't condone the mass killing of fish but I didn't think it was an issue polarised on racial lines. I take absolute exception to your apparently unfounded assumption. I don't expect an apology.
  7. I too think it's a bit previous to identify the nationality of the culprits before they are caught.
  8. Turn everything off. led lights, solar controller and inverter and all other powered devices and devices and try again.
  9. 50a will be the one, use a midi fuse and holder (ebay) this should be at the battery end of the cable. The fuse is to protect the cable as well as the controller therefore needs to be external and as near to the battery as possible. ( though not in the battery box).

  11. 1. You're in charge of your own lock 2. You can't do this from your boat 3. I have had people say 'you go down with your boat' but it remains their offer and my decision and I wouldn't do it unless I trusted their competence. 4. One paddle instead of two in no way reduces the risk of getting stuck. All in all it's safest to operate locks in the correct manner which, with no coincidence, is also the most efficient.
  12. You've been boating long enough to know how to lock through safely and efficiently. Why would you want to hold people up?
  13. If I came to help you and you did this I'd walk away again. You don't need anyone on the boat. As for only one paddle... pathetic. If you want to hold people up like a squat toad, I guess there's nothing anyone can do. I hope I never get stuck behind you. That'll be 'on the boat' I guess you mean. What's wrong with a rope and a bit of vigilance?

  16. It was probably a user consultation.
  17. Gosh. That's a bit Stalinesque. "(a)activities carried on in a public place within the authoritys area have had a detrimental effect on the quality of life of those in the locality". Does this mean I can finally rid myself of all the ugly people around?
  18. I know of a 35 x 10 foot swim ended liveaboard, run by a diesel outboard, works well and even looks good. To my eye it looks a whoie lot better than the ubiquitous floating-brick school of widebeam design
  19. That might be true but stopping it isn't as simple as with a cilling. There's a lock in Bath, scene of a few hire cill-related sinkings where the bottom paddles used to be hydraulic and impossible to shut against the force of water once open. Thankfully since changed.
  20. What was unreliable? The principle - or the engineering of the particular models?
  21. whereas I acknowledge your experience on the Trent, your knowledge of the Huddersfield narrow is sadly lacking. http://waterwaynews.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/photograph-of-latest-huddersfield.html
