  2. Here is a small summary of the 'rules' for the meaning of what BW mean by continuous cruising Summary • Continuous cruisers must be engaged in a genuine progressive journey (a cruise) around the network, or a significant part of it. • They must not stay moored in the same neighbourhood or locality for more than 14 days (unless special reasons prevent onward movement). • It is the boater’s responsibility to satisfy BW that they keep to the rules. Whether the fact that a permanent mooring cannot be found in a specified area would satisfy BW I really can't say, but I doubt it.
  3. Did manage to view it Gary, but the pictures do need to be larger. With BB it was fairly quick to appear.

  5. Sorry to hear this, it just shows that a freak accident can happen with even the most innocent things, must have really been a scary incident. I'm glad everything is fine now though.

  8. First of all welcome to the forums. Now for the question re moorings with a CC licence, which means exactly what it says continuous cruising. I doubt you would get away with mooring permanently with one and BW are slowly cracking down on the ones who abuse them. In most places you are not allowed to moor for more than 3 weeks at the most and some only up to 48 hours and then you are not allowed to return to that mooring for 28 days. I would either get hold of the June Canal Boat magazine which contains a moorings directory and will at least give a list of marinas and moorings to contact, or as Jon says contact BW. Sorry to appear to put a damper on things but it is the only answer I can give.
  9. There is a moorings directory in the June edition of Canal Boat, which lists most of them including facilities and BW moorings, although there are a few not listed.
  10. Ouch! The times my Scampi has managed to do this in the past. Only a couple needed vet intervention. We just bathed the area with a saline solution to keep it clean and all has been well, though looked extremely sore at the time.
  11. I googled and got this site which maybe of some help. http://www.jn01.dial.pipex.com/Glass.shtml

  13. Well done you for giving her a home, but I would definitely have her checked over by a vet if you haven't already done so. As Richard says she could possibly have be on the prowl and you could end up with a larger family than you anticipated. She's not a tortie though but a Tabby and white.
  14. Well when Mick who used to rent our full line of moorings from BW 16 boats in all, asked about dredging, the price quoted was in excess of £10,000, that's why he ended up telling them what to do with them and handed them back. Whether they would just do a one off I really doubt. I think what Dor says maybe an answer, though once the traffic on the canals gets moving properly you may find an improvement.
  15. Don't know about a private company Richard. You can ASK BW, we have been asking them for over 5 years and all we get is 'it's in the 5 year plan, or if we don't like we are welcome to move. If you all get together on the moorings and contact them with a letter signed by all I think you may have a slight chance.
  16. I always thought they were the navvies, they are the ones who dug out the 'ditches' following the design by the engineers.
  17. Just querying why the above post has been quoted with no comments from you Jaysay, did you mean to add something?
  18. Hope all goes well Nigel and you have a good trip. Happy Birthday in advance.
  19. Check it Chris, is this how you want it?
  20. I remember mentioning Vinegar, but not vanilla pods.

    Deck Matting

We have the clip together tiles by Dri Dec on the stern deck and since ours are now around 12 years old with no signs of wear at all I feel they have been well worth the money. We also have the Aquamat ones in the front well, and though not as thick do the job they are meant to. The Dri Dec ones to my mind are the better value.
  23. Funny, when we had a porta potti we took turns to empty it, although I have to confess Colin did have more turns than me. Now we have a PO it seems to be my job if we don't use a boatyard's.
