  1. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 10 posts to view.
  2. Barrie morse. Very knowledgeable and experienced with all sorts of boats. If you can be there on the day even better.
  3. LOL I can picture the scene if you did... " hi mum, you'll never guess where I am"
  4. Since Adam and Karen( the previous landlords) left, the red lion has gone totally downhill, every time I've walked past over the past year or two it's been nearly empty. Tis a shame, it used to be a cracking pub. I think most boaters and locals favour the brazenose nowadays
  5. In the 90's I went all the way in after leaving the mill bar in banbury and forgetting I'd turned the boat around... I was quite suprised to bounce off the front end into the canal rather than stepping onto the nice low back deck Can remember quite a few people tumbling in backwards when sitting on their cruiser stern rails too...
  6. When my partner had her boat , her patterdale cross thought the whole towpath about 50' either side was his territory, my dog in the 90's appeared to think he owned the whole oxford canal!
  7. It certainly looks like it's had some money thrown at it! I remember that boat from the 1990's and Nigel ( the then owner) used to spend most of his time patching it with tin and pitch to stem the frequent leaks .... Lovely cabin tho. I'm sure it used to have an engine too, I remember Pete downer fitting swim plates to it at some point.
  8. It depends on your budget, most grp topped boats are getting quite elderly now and an all steel properly insulated boat will be more comfortable in all weathers but with a decent stove / heating system you can live quite happily on any boat. Bear in mind that grp tops require a lot more maintenance than steel and often develop annoying leaks around the roof/ hull joins/ windows and vents. Also watch for careless past removal of interior bulkheads as these were often built in to help stabilise the structure. Tony
  9. Thanks I'll pass that on Tony
  10. And we've had a sense of humour and perspective for a lot longer... chill, I'm just helping an old man out, I'm sure as a retired fitter earning topping up his pension by leaning on a broom at our place he's quite capable of sending an email really Tony
  11. Seeing as you appear to have forgotten how to spell your own name I'd say now could be a good time to consider it.... I'll get my coat Btw my mother considers the net to be akin to some sort of witchcraft an she's only in her 70's
  12. Hi, a colleague at work is looking for an electrician or otherwise competent person to fit a split charging switch/ poss rewire of his engine bay. He owns a wooden river cruiser which I believe has an inboard engine which is moored at eynsham on the Thames. If anyone is interested pm me and I'll pass your number to him as he's far too old to use t'internet Thanks Tony
