  1. Are the fans wired in parrallel ? If so you could try wiring them is series. Or look at this page for a quick guide. http://www.blackfiveservices.co.uk/fanspeed.shtml
  2. If it's any consolation I have hired boats from 1980-1994, had a share of a boat from 1994-2000 and owned a boat from 2000 to now and I still get people who assume that we can't steer, go too fast, don't slow down past boats, not know how to deal with locks etc. <sigh>
  3. Yeah that is how we would do it when we used to hire, under way by 7am, breakfast, dinner on the run and stop when it started to get dark. We did the Four Counties plus Caldon to Froghall in a boat from Nantwich I think so it is do-able. We did have a good crew so no hanging around at locks. You may have to allow for a bit if traffic as you are going at Easter though. TF

  5. I had my boat built by Kingsground nearly 12 years ago and have had a good experience. They were very friendly bunch and always welcoming when I turned up to view the progress. The shells they use are good solid builds (mine was a Reeves) and the fit out is to a good standard. Interior wood work has stood up well to the rigours of travelling although the exterior paint work is looking a little tired now. I wuould recomend them to any one looking for a mid to high end bespoke boat.
  6. I also have a 600S battery monitor and would agree with others here that the SOC indication is, by and large, a complete work of fiction.
  7. Voltage drop through the 12Volt wiring possibly ? I have the same problem with laptop / inverter if I plug my inverter into a 12volt outlet near the front of the boat. I have to plug my inverter in to an outlet as close as possible to the batteries and run the 240V mains up the boat on an extension lead.
  8. The only times I have been on commercial waters was several years ago and on hire boats. The boats did not have VHF sets, nor did they suggest that we should bring one. From P's comments this would appear to have been a major oversight. I presumme that now all hire companies provide VHF sets with thier boats and training on how to use them ?
  9. Y Safety risk? The video I saw on utube had the man clad in full overalls, face mask etc. Wouldn't have thought dry ice would pose that much of a risk although the flakes of paint etc. could be a problem. Are there any other safety problems compared to other forms of shot blasting?
  10. Has anyone had any experience with using dry ice blasting to take the surface back to bare steel. How well does it clean off paint and rust compared with sand or shot blasting? Richard

  12. I don't have an accumulator either. My pump is a Shurflo and they do two different versions, one for systems with an a accumulator and one without. Even without an accumulator I get a fair bit of pressure and can half fill the kettle befroe the pump kicks in. Richard
