  1. They come in different sizes.
  2. I too think that a handle is a must but the bulk of some is a worry.
  3. What are your views on dog life jackets and what is the best to get. On Amazon they range in price from under a tenner to close to £80. Our dog is not a swimmer which is a little odd but there you go.
  4. Looking at some old, period, photos of Yarwood's built GU boats all the portholes have the same round head fittings as does Radiant to this day. I was told that all the porthole were fitted with nuts but to change the glass in the cabin porthole you would have to rip out part of the cabin lining. It doesn't make sense for the yard to use different fittings for different portholes on the same build.
  5. But not a Northwich porthole. The thing is Yarwoods seemed to use stuff that was unique to them or made by them while H&W got stuff off the shelf. The Northwich porthole is flat with an inner locking ring. This is from the Radiant. The small notch at about 11 & 5 o'clock are in the locking ring.
  6. Mrs F says what's a Yam Yam?
  7. Ok, I kinda worked out what was meant but not sure. So now I know was a scooshie bit is. It will be on the school spellings next week.
  8. Thanks Ray but I still don't know what they are on about...well, not all of it anyway.
  9. I got it now...thanks Dave.
  10. Sorry Dave, I'm from 'artfudshire (via 'ampshire and/or Dorsetshire) and you lost me on the second bit that's why I got you to speak to Joe Hollingshead for me.
  11. Too young for the pub back then - well the inside of them anyway!
  12. I've just re-read my post and didn't realise that it had changed all my 'orses to rose...don't you just love technology. Where's my quill?
  13. Predictive blooming text! 'Orses not roses! Mind you they do have them pointy bits and if you give a bunch to someone there is no telling where it might lead. So roses, like 'orses, can be dangerous.
  14. It's just 10ft of hose without any add ons. I don't know what scooshie bits are.
  15. Sorry, no on both counts. I was given to me ages ago from a friend in Braunston who used to boat in the 60s early 70s. The only chance I had to 'rose boat I turned down as I was frightened of 'roses after one came up to me on a lock side while boating at night - scared the living do-dah out of me. Pity really. It's all I got though.
  16. Just found this in the back of my workroom, well I knew it was there but had never noticed it has FM&C L all over it. How old is this? It has seen some action and has many repairs.
  17. Can you wash fire-hose in the washing machine? Any thoughts?
  18. The JP is use in a 1936 Northwich with a 2:1 reduction box and a 29" blade.
  19. What are peoples thoughts on running JP2M under hi or low compression. One old skipper says always hi and another low? what is the best for the engine?
  20. Silica bronze screws is the way to go and stronger than SS in my limited experience. All the oak floors in the house are screwed with these and no probs as regards staining.
